I’m Becky and I write YA. My ideal retreat would have to be somewhere quiet, without my kids or husband interrupting every 5 minutes, maybe a beach cottage along Lake Michigan or an old dreamy apartment in Tuscany.

Thanks for hosting! It’s been a long time since I’ve chatted and it’s nice to see familiar faces.

I MADE A MURDER BOARD!! :) I’d been wanting to make one, so this current story idea was created for it. I also have a board with a timeline and one with index cards filled with scene notes.

Otherwise, I jot ideas and notes everywhere, in notebooks, on my phone, in docs.

I like high concept books if they are fast-paced. Otherwise the writing can make the whole thing drag. I like quiet books if there is a point the author is making and it’s not just a long-winded monologue.

I agree with you! It def is all about the writing!

I saw a job listing for a lit agent’s assistant recently, and reading the description, I thought there was no way I’d do that, but so glad there are people who want to!

Yes, big changes ahead, and even though I’d love for her to pick the college that is close, I also want her to pick the one that is hours away.

Oops. I recently did an image search for photos of my characters, and I didn’t bother to remember names.

All of senior year is a sappy mess!! And even my 16yo son knows next year will be hard without her there at school with him. (They have a couple classes together now.)

I suppose anyone, as long as it wasn’t me. I’d stumble over the words, even though I wrote them!

High school. And don’t get me started about all this “planning for college” and how she’s going to leave me!!! :(

Hello Everyone!! I’m Becky and I just finished plotting out a YA murder mystery, hoping to start drafting later this week.
My spring will be full of backyard projects as we prepare for my daughter’s grad party…

An incomplete list, but here are some ways I keep my Bluesky experience pretty happy:

1. Be kind when possible
2. Celebrate/congratulate people's wins
3. Always "like" pet pics
4. Trolls, etc: Don't Engage, Just Block
5. Don't nitpick typos/small errors
6. Remember the failure mode of clever

I don’t think I get enough credit for all the little things I do to save our family money these days. Just going to the library SAVES money!
