Huh. It’s like back in 2012 and women were banned for sharing breastfeeding images.

Ah jeez. A citizen just called my office saying there is a fake website set up to look like a CBC News story.

The fake story uses my name and image (along with new Telus CEO Victor Dodig) to endorse some sleazy AI investing product.

In March of the year 2026, is there really anything I can do?

Facebook now serving paid ads with synthetic content that points to fake sites impersonating CBC. Seems like a problem. I think @kevinmilligan.bsky.social posted about this the other day?

When you have lived for years in cities with last-mile solutions, it feels odd to be in a city without e-bikes and scooters. They have been such an important part of my daily travel.

My daughter once clocked a 4 minute savings on a 20 min walk to work during morning rush-hour downtown (yeg) by taking the alleys instead of the street and avoiding the pedestrian crossing delays.

There are some amazing window displays right now on Government Street. The Sabayon one is great. Same with the one at Munros. This one is at Murchies! #yyj #victoriabc #windowshopping

How HAVN's new Vancouver floating spa will fit into Kitsilano's heritage marina | Urbanized This is the design concept of HAVN Saunas' new location at Vancouver Maritime Museum's Heritage Harbour marina in Kitsilano.

Plan unveiled to site a spa barge at the Vancouver Maritime Museum at Kitsilano Point. It'll provide needed shelter for the museum dock and crucial revenue... but wait for the howling to start, and it'll be Kits Point neighbours and visitors, not the wind.

2/2 Which has had hundreds of years to learn how do to this. TV and radio newsrooms have only had public scrutiny of their copy in writing, for a few decades. They didn’t used to have to write headlines. They’re not very good at it. And the deep cuts to all legacy media exacerbate the problem.

01.03.2026 18:55 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

You’re right, β€˜property crime spree’ should be a quote from someone in the article, but it isnt in the CTV article. My guess is the headline referred to a text that was either later shortened or not used in the online edition. Of note, TV and radio newsrooms aren’t as good at this as print. 1/2

Good one! My analysis β€” CTV could have sought an additional quote on the effectiveness of the housing program. I heard Julian speak about it on CBC; other places have used it as a model. They could have interviewed others. I’m sad the housing is gone. I wish newsrooms weren’t so understaffed.

Hmm, not ironic air quotes. That is the standard when the headline quotes from the body copy. I get how ok modern usage it’s misleading. I don’t think it’s bias.

2/X Unfortunately, one #Saanich staff member is publicly opposing this move, based on the regressive idea that people with disabilities should be restricted to walking speeds. The UK disability rights group @wheelsforwellbeing.org.uk has something to say about that: bsky.app/profile/whee... #yyj

Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim started false claim councillor 'handed out illegal drugs' Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim accused city Coun. Sean Orr of "handing out illegal drugs on Christmas Day" in a briefing for Chinese-speaking reporters.

This is one of the worst things I’ve seen in Vancouver politics.

Vancouver councillor outrageously lies to Chinese audience that fellow councillor is a drug addict & dealer. Gets caught, forced to β€œapologize” for lying, mayor commends him for admitting fault.

Then turns out the mayor did it first.

@mark-carney.bsky.social NOW would be a good time to introduce legislation requiring minimum πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ ownership thresholds for media & mass communication.

If media in πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ is controlled by foreign/nefarious actors we can’t protect our sovereignty, nor fight mis- & disinformation.

Canadians want this.

Oh, perhaps it’s because the CFIA relies on media to amplify its recall messaging and the media respond to official messaging on X. This symbiotic relationship between Canadian governments and Canadian media outlets is toxic. CFIA needs to expand its messaging to other social channels and get off X.

Why is the Government of Canada using X to announce recalls of infant formula, and not Bluesky, and not Facebook and Instagram? Their Insta account doesn’t mention this. So women, who do most of the grocery shopping, have to be on X to learn about urgent health concerns involving their babies? 1/2

One of the great things about the United States Women's Ice Hockey team winning gold is the part where they didn't celebrate with Kash Patel.

Yes! It’s really such a short space, I don’t know why they didn’t just pull the boardwalk down below and across the water, if the land owner is a barrier. Like here where Red Fish Blue Fish is, below the Custom House.
