I've had a tiny taste of this signature Singal manoeuvre myself. I once criticised Singal on Twitter, and he tried to sicc his followers on me by quote-tweeting me and telling them - falsely - that I go around claiming to be an expert on the far-right.

Y'know how in movies set in sinister prisons or 'lunatic asylums' there's always a warder or an orderly who's a real sick, sadistic asshole? He's usually played by Clancy Brown? He tortures the inmates/patients to make himself feel macho? But he's always a cringing sycophant to the Warden/Director?

All it takes to debunk the theory that thousands of kids were pushed into gender-affirming surgeries is to talk to literally any trans person who has tried to get gender-affirming care of ANY kind. It's extremely difficult.

Funny how people who wouldn't normally believe a word Marco Rubio said are suddenly totally willing to believe him unquestioningly when he says "Israel made us do it".

I love that YouGov is so alarmed by its own poll that it has to add a note saying, effectively, "don't take this too seriously, it's probably skewed by weird, irrelevant stuff like... um, stuff that's happening in the world and things people are starting to think."

I cannot fathom people who use wealth to go into politics. Give me juuuuust enough money to spend the rest of my time doing nothing but lying in bed reading books and stroking cats and you wouldn't see me for dust.

Yeah, the contradictions don't matter. They've said both things, so people can pick and choose which they like and ignore the other. Performance of belief despite the facts is a sign of merit and loyalty. Doublethink. Conscious belief in what you know to be untrue = orthodoxy = virtue / identity.
