A cycle to the Botanics followed by a wee coffee & a stroll.
Reading surrounded by the smell of tropical plants & the sound of Glaswegian grannies saying "a like that wan so a dae" - a reminder that this space is free, accessible & open to all of us. I've always loved that.
A wonderful place! ππ±

#ScottishChurchOfTheWeek, St Andrews,Tain has a fascinating interior. Much of the woodwork inside is by Robert βMousemanβ Thomson of Yorkshire whose characteristic signature is a small carved mouse located somewhere on each piece of furniture.

St Andrew's, Tain, #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek, is a delightful Highland church, housing some stunning stained glass and a collection of "Mouseman" woodwork. The original "tin tabernacle", from 1878, was replaced by a late Victorian Gothic building designed by Ross & Macbeth of Inverness in 1887.

This included explaining how a bicycle chassis ended up in the bell tower (being used for many years to mechanise the bell clapper) and demonstrating how one volunteer still has to manually wind the 200 year old P.Gill & Son clock with a huge iron handle every week!
