After an unexpected conversation at a formal with Prof Javier García Oliva, I somehow ended up chairing the Q&A for an interdisciplinary panel on… exorcism just a couple of months later 🕯️ @magdalencollege.

I absolutely agree. One of the best reads this year, even though it’s outside my usual area of interest. I was hooked from the moment I read her essay on Aeon.

There are philosophers working in AI Ethics like Carissa Véliz and Signal's president, Meredith Whittaker (see interview in Wired) who emphasise the connection between AI and SC.
I imagine this connection will become more widely recognised over time as data abuses are discovered along the way.
It's an important read as it tries to thoroughly conceptualise SC, much like Hannah Arendt did for totalitarianism. I liked how she traced the development from Skinner, through Beh. Econ. and Nudging to SC.
Had the book been written in 2024, it would probably include specific chapters on AI.
