As I have posted on my own account, I have represented journalists subject to search warrants several times and in those case, the cops never identify the target as a journalist, usually because they know that will lead to greater judicial scrutiny.

Privacy Protection Act also bars many warrantless searches, and makes searchers personally liable - but ignorance of law is a defense. Make searchers aware of PPA by carrying copy of PPA to show if seized or searched, and labeling devices protected by PPA: papersplease.org/wp/2017/02/1...
