Op-ed: ASU needs to show courage and stand up to ICE Unlike some Valley schools, ASU has shown neither courage to say that ICE is unwelcome nor care for its own community.

In Major Breakthrough, Volkswagen Auto Workers Reach Tentative Deal Volkswagen had dangled a treat: a ratification bonus of $4,000, sweetened by $1,500 if a first contract at its assembly plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, was approved by Halloween 2025. But auto worker...

The agreement comes with a 20 percent wage increase, equal to around a $7 wage bump for production workers, over the four-year contract. The cost-of-living adjustment is 45 cents per hour on top of the base wage, depending on inflation. @lfelizleon.bsky.social reports labornotes.org/2026/02/majo...

(5/6) MYTH 4: Union dues are too expensive. I'm already being overworked and underpaid!"
FACT: Dues are on a sliding scale, based on your income!

You can pay as low as $10/month, or as high as you want to go. Your dues pay for resources, training, swag, professional staff, and more. Money = power πŸ’Έ

05.02.2026 23:39 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

(4/6) MYTH 3: "Being in a union is a time-suck. I'm already busy!"
FACT: Organizing isn't all-or-nothing!

You can be as involved as you want to be! If you have 3hrs/month, you can join a committee. If you have 1hr/month, you can talk to a coworker. If you have no time, you can simply pay dues.

(3/6) MYTH 2: "Collective bargaining is illegal in AZ, so joining is a waste of time."
FACT: Collective bargaining (a contract) is not the only tool in the toolbox!

While current state laws say that union members in AZ can’t collectively bargain, we can still organize through collective action!

05.02.2026 23:39 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

(2/6) MYTH 1: "Unions are illegal in Arizona, I'll get fired for joining!"
FACT: Unions aren't illegal!

Your right to belong and be active in a union or employees association is protected by state (AZ 12.1341) and federal law as well as the Arizona Board of Regents (6-906) policies.

STAYING WARM & SAFE AT ICE OUT OF MN RALLY
-20Β°F Wind Chill
Extreme cold is dangerous-especially when standing still for long periods. Please plan ahead and take care of yourself and each other.
DRESS FOR STANDING STILL
Layer up
β€’ Base layer: Thermal (wool or synthetic). No cotton.
Mid layer: Fleece or wool (two thin layers are better than one bulky one).
β€’ Outer layer: Insulated, windproof, waterproof coat that covers hips or thighs.
Tip: If you feel "comfortable" when you leave home, you're underdressed.
PROTECT HANDS, FEET, FACE & HEAD
These areas are most at risk for frostbite.
β€’ Hands: Mittens + liners if possible; bring hand warmers.
β€’ Feet: Insulated, waterproof boots; wool socks (not tight).
β€’ Head & face: Warm hat covering ears; scarf, gaiter, or balaclava.
β€’ Cover all exposed skinβ€”wind chill causes frostbite quickly.
REDUCE WIND & HEAT LOSS
β€’ Stand near buildings, vehicles, or barriers when possible.
β€’ Keep coats zipped and gaps sealed (neck, cuffs, waist).
β€’ Stand on cardboa
