I think certain Online Dudes are particularly weird about the first Predator, more so than some of the other movies they drag into the culture war. I wonder if for some subset of that group the hypermasculine muscle men of that movie constitute their homoerotic hall pass.

Part of it is that we're in this public online space all the time now, and everyone is so self-conscious about how they appear to others. It's like nonstop high school, they're afraid they don't look cool enough and so they can't stand being seen to be wrong. Corrections are seen as attacks.

It's the regret-inducing part that scares me. It makes me think they might not being talking about a hard target like a political or religious leader.
