Conservation officers in BC are a joke. It’s animal control, nothing more, and almost always ends in the killing of whatever non-human animal is simply trying to survive in this unforgivingly speciesist world 😔

If they truly think the labels are confusing to consumers they should be looking at the education system instead of doing the bidding of the animal agriculture industry. We all know there’s no confusion…just the greed of animal ag and their fear of losing profits.

I’m always baffled that anyone can say “conservation” and “hunting” in the same sentence, other than something like “hunting is NOT…I repeat NOT…conservation.” The “hunters” are cowards just looking for an excuse. Humans as a species are the worst thing that ever happened to this planet.

You’re absolutely right! That’s all it took for me to go from vegetarian to vegan…literally the instant I learned the truth about the dairy and egg industries. Turns out I was a vegan trapped in a vegetarian’s body. People need to see and know the WHOLE truth that the industry hides so well.

That’s exactly why animal ag goes to such great lengths to hide everything they do, and why they try to get the politicians they own to pass laws that criminalize the act of exposing what they do. They know as the word increasingly gets out that their days are numbered.

Before you start thinking about or pointing at “other countries” let me say to you:

”The B.C. Wildlife Federation” sounds like a euphemism for “The B.C. Hunting Club”. The best way to avoid attacks is not to hunt and kill animals that have every right to be there, but to stop encroaching on their habitats. Hey humans: It’s not all about you!

Many similar wildlife encounters occur in wilderness areas and human reaction is usually the same: Hunt down the animal and kill him or her. The trigger happy people that support that solution are the same people that would shoot a human breaking into their home. The wilderness is the animal’s home!

I hope the humans that were injured will be ok and I’m glad the bear wasn’t killed for simply following his or her natural instincts. The bear committed no crime here and shouldn’t be hunted down and killed. The planet belongs to ALL life…not just humans. The bear has just as much right to be here.

In this case the kids were ”on a field trip” and “eating lunch” which implies that they’re eating lunch outdoors and obviously in bear country. Does anyone NOT know what bears do this time of year? They eat as much as possible before hibernation, which is their natural behavior.

I’m always amazed, and not at all in a good way, when I hear stories of people being attacked by wild animals with human reaction nearly always to go find and kill the wild animal involved.
