The US offered me a loan, yes, loan, to fly back to the US when I fled Ukraine. I got nothing. I cannot imagine the Kremlin troll helping anyone.

Other countries may offer assistance. Hard to say. Getting trapped a war zone is not fun. Trust me.

Force majeure applies here. Act of war is specifically mentioned in the Montreal Convention. Airlines can deny any claims. Hotels probably have this language in their contracts. Not even sure travel insurance would pay out. Even national governments don’t necessarily help out for their citizens.
