Cognitive psych is often traced back to the 1950s.
Psychology is often traced to Wundt's lab in 1879.
Textbooks speak of "proto-psychologists" like Fechner & Helmholtz in the 1800s... Westerners all.

Have you heard about Ibn al-Haytham, whose work predated them by 100s of years?

A Mirror Reveals a Surprise About Bird Brains A modified version of the classic mirror test suggested that roosters recognize their reflections.

Such a cool twist on an old design: Roosters warn each other when a hawk is circling overhead. But when theyโ€™re alone and a predator is near, they stay silent to avoid attracting attention. Importantly, they donโ€™t warn their own reflection.
