I have zero interest in something like Tarkov because I just really don't have much interest in a more realistic military shooter with realistic weaponry.

Put me 12 LY away on a colony planet absolutely destroyed by aliens, give me weird guns and abilities, and a ton of lore entries? I'm in.

To elaborate a little bit on this: I think that, while the gameplay is exciting and feels great, the main thing pulling me into this vs other extraction shooters is the setting and the story. I'm a sucker for dark sci-fi, and I adore the writing that's come out of Bungie, so this is grabbing me hard

There are things that could be improved (that have already been called out by others and responded to by Bungie), but overall it's a solid start. I hope it has legs, both because I like this game and (selfishly) because I would like Bungie to have more money to reinvest in Destiny lmao

There's this really strong feeling of tension and anxiety as a solo runner who's just figuring out how things work, and I think it really works well. I'll be interested to see how it plays out long term and as I play with more shells, maps, contracts, etc., but for now I am really digging it

I played the Marathon server slam last night (solo) for like 2 hours and it convinced me I probably just need to buy the game, because damn it's way more fun than I expected. I thought it might be one I enjoyed watching more than playing, but even solo it was really exciting

It really sucks that they seem to be on the way out, despite their messaging 😔 At least Xbox has a great back catalogue and excellent backwards compatibility with physical discs! There’s a lot of older good stuff to play for good prices, even if the future is bleak

I can't help but feel like this is a really bad omen for Xbox. Spencer retiring is a loss for the industry in terms of execs who actually give a shit and Bond leaving sure does feel like Microsoft wants to take Xbox in a direction she completely disagrees with. Interviews are going to be interesting

T-Mobile Tuesdays are great in theory, but everything is like "here's a discount on a service that teaches babies to read" (I know no one with a baby) or "Free slurpee from 7-Eleven!" (I would have to drive hours into another state for this).

GenAI writing tools make a lot more sense when you realize the planet is apparently being run by people who have never written a coherent sentence in their lives and maybe don't know how to spell any words at all

I think they're hitting their stride and the next expansion will probably be great - especially if we go to Old Chicago like they're teasing - but man. It does not feel good to be so in the dark about the immediate future.

I'll almost definitely play Marathon, but I *want* to play Destiny, too.

As much as I'm enjoying where the story is going and how Renegades feels, I really, really wish they'd taken a break after The Final Shape and had just focused on bringing back everything they put into the DCV instead of jumping right into another Saga and doing a game-wide systems rework.

I know I'm not the only one saying this, but it would be nice to know anything concrete about the future of Destiny 2 right now. Why haven't we had an Iron Banner in nearly 6 months? What did they learn from the Ash & Iron mid-season update? When is the next expansion? WHAT is the next expansion?

I know that realistically Bungie has all hands on deck to make sure Marathon launches in the best possible state, but it kinda sucks to have multiple weekly Destiny 2 blogs that are essentially "How are you liking x thing? Here's some fanart. Here are some of the bugs we know about. See you later."
