Highly recommend reaching out to local city rec depts & pitching a local focused event! Bonus if you are able to volunteer time to walk them through what a fan con involves to help them get started (I find most rec peeps aren't very "in the know" about cons & require lots of explanation 😅)

The nice thing about city ran events is they have access to event spaces & resources most local con promoters dont have access to/ cant afford.

Bonus is they have employees who get paid to put on events & can facilitate volunteers for day-of operations which helps cut down costs.

I used to work for my home town city's recreation department, & I helped them start a city run con back in 2019.

It's still going to this day, & I have been PREACHING to other city rec depts to consider doing their own community focused events that highlight local talent.
