this argument against "balkanisation = weakness" has always been used against non-western philosophies in western academy. now we have a concrete example of how that sounds to majority world.

I wrote an essay on the out-of-print JP translation of Du Bois' "Souls" for its publisher's magazine, and now they have decided to reprint the title. One solid win for Africana philosophy.

This week we are reading these three books by Kwame Ture, Steve Biko, and Huey Newton, questioning the myth of coalition and skepticism against the naïveté or dishonesty of liberals before the White(supremacist) power. a series of examples from media that makes them prophetic.

Black thinkers like Kwame Ture (and I wouldn't be surprised if Newton was also thinking about the same). Even though Lippmann does not talk about race or address any issues related to urban Black communities but laid the evidence for the need of real (Black) modernisation.

he is prophetic when it comes to what is happening in politics in general but particularly the analysis in the 60s on the difference between the historical foundation of the US (when it was a bunch of farming villages) & its technologically advanced present was inspirational for

it's clear that major Black thinkers in the 20th century had read and possibly corresponded with Walter Lippmann.

We talked about the concept of "white man's burden" & how it was popularised through art, media, political discourse, etc., & how consistent with the rise of Yellow Peril (黄禍). Also, we covered how the term "man" did not only refer to males. Kipling is a Nobel prize winner.

Also, if philosophy is too Euro-ethnocentric & anti-non-western philosophy, doing well in academic career generally means that we comply with the dominance voice & as Carter G Woodson would argue, in this context, being more educated & successful is actually quite harmful?

two critical points: it is written for the US white audience & its projection that they will become minority in the future (so, we must study world philosophies or philosophy will die away) is somewhat naive. That assumption ignores racism as a war thesis (shown by @eihtbeezy).

All points are valid and even more interesting & prophetic to reread it during the second term.

For Axander Crummell, civilisation & industrialism were incompatible. Every Black scholar (as for any other intellectual) must also be a "philanthropist," who is eager to discover & encourage other geniuses, governed by generosity. How is our academy doing?

個人的に一つ気になったのはARCに殉じようとした若者と「クレオール文学運動」（336–7頁)。武闘闘争と文学闘争は並行して別々に行われていたのか、それともなんらかの相互理解・幇助があったのか、その辺の史実が気になりました。

シャモワゾー『カリブ海偽典』と大江健三郎『ヒロシマ・ノート』の共鳴を例に、反核運動を含む日本における「脱経済社会構築への基礎」に研究内容を落とし込んでいるところもカリブ海哲学的だと思いました。

何世紀にもわたる植民主義の影響による「支配的な労働観」や「その労働を中心にシステム化された社会」に対する2009年フランス圏カリブ海ゼネストを介して、フランス圏カリブ海文学史・思想史を往還的な創造的カオス論として紹介しているのが素晴らしい。

A student under my supervision wrote a MA thesis on Dōgen and since it was so well written already at the first draft stage, I recommend him to submit it for publication and it was accepted. This was not supervising but learning from the better student of Zen.
