I dont think this story is getting enough attention. China has put rigid controls on the supply of rare earth metals to the USA, but after a little tantrum, Trump has been left pretending its no big deal. He has already weakened the US so much, he has few options. finance.yahoo.com/news/china-f...

So the US subsidizes Argentina to sell soybeans to China, which means China doesn’t have to buy US soybeans, which means the US is going to have a massive bailout of its own soybean farmers.
This might be the single worst policy in the history of policies.

The farmers who voted for Trump are mostly not the same ones that attend Farm Aid.

The Democrats could condition government funding on free speech and civil liberty protections that ensured people do not suffer government persecution for saying the wrong thing or being the wrong race. It really is so striking how much The Discourse operates untethered from…what we actually know. The killer is still at large! We have no idea who did it! Seems pretty important to get that sorted.

We must stand resolutely against political assassination and political violence of all kinds, and just as resolutely against everyone who exploits acts of violence as the pretext or excuse for political repression of political opponents.

It’s not simply important to denounce political violence because it looks bad not to. It’s the right thing to do on the merits. Even more specifically to this moment it’s important because the forces of fascism are inherently better at political violence than the forces of civic democracy.
