That sort of thing wound me up endlessly when I was a journalist. The worst ones though would be a competitive publication ringing up to confirm the story – which was factual, of course – then running "Publication can confirm that..." and not crediting us at all.

Shame on Doug Ford and all his caucus for being on β€œTeam Dead Child” - for trying to cross the road in front of their school.

(Yes I know they are shameless ghouls.)

But shit - we are talking about the safety of young children, folks. #Ontario School zones. It’s grotesque.

Ford is making a change to the law, that will result in additional deaths and injuries. Does Ford have any evidence that his alternative is better than the photo radar? If not, would the same legal logic that killed the bike lane removals apply?

β€œThe Ford Govt in Ontario has passed a controversial omnibus bill banning municipalities from installing speed cameras.

Ford says it will make the province more efficient & reduce red tape.

It won’t do either, and he knows it.

It might get him β€œspeeder votes” though.

This will kill more people.

Noticed quieter roads this week?

🚸 If it's half term in your area, chances are you have.

πŸš— In some areas the school run has been reported to increase pollution and bus times by an enormous 50% compared to school holidays!

❓What's it like where you live this week?

#schoolrun

The same street in 1993 and today, there is car parking down one side of the street in 1993, today a typical narrow Amsterdam street with no car parking on it. Children cycle on the road

Runstraat, Amsterdam in 1993 and today. Seems almost impossible there used to be car parking when you're walking down these busy, narrow streets!

Perhaps if there were more safe routes so they didn’t need to risk becoming a customer, they wouldn’t need to cut through it.

Why on earth would a retailer with razor thin margins take the risk on holding stock worth that much that they don’t know if they’ll sell? Not to mention, an ex demo is often sold at a loss anyway.

Trek should have had one or two in the country retailers could book out for a demo.

28.10.2025 17:10 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Also, it really does not help that they were expecting their dealers to pay out nearly Β£5k for its bakfiets as a demo.

It really shouldn’t be a Pikachu surprise face that’s so few were sold when it’s the equivalent of selling a car model but not having a way for people to test drive it.

Industry that focuses too much on only selling the equivalent of sports cars wonders why so few people are buying their products.

It’s a mystery, I tell you.

Car headlights to be reviewed after drivers complain of being 'blinded' at night Concern over the glare from brighter headlamps is prompting the government to review vehicle design.

I wonder what is in the DfT's assessment of the causes πŸ‘€ Feels like another reason to do something about the troubling and dangerous increase in car bonnet height. Chances are big SUVs won't be mentioned at all #elephantintheroom #carspreading www.bbc.com/news/article...

They're mentioned briefly in the article, but you're absolutely right that if the DFT don't acknowledge bonnet height is a critical factor, it's going to be a whitewash of a report.

And we have 50+ years of experience from the Netherlands that removing cars from the road is the best way to reduce that danger. You do that by making the alternatives safe. That comes from infrastructure.

It’s that time of year again when β€œsafety” organisations crack out their victim blaming campaigns telling pedestrians and people on bikes to dress for battle rather than their destination and wear high vis clothing to be seen instead of focusing on the real source of danger - drivers.

Hey Daily Mail. You know what really destroys hard work and aspiration? That’s right. House prices that bear no reality with affordability. LVT-style taxes don’t punish hard work and aspiration; they punish greed.

It wasn’t those that got house owners that β€œwealth”. It was the year they were born.
