According to U.S foreign assistance data, #USAID to Uganda amounts to $710 million (Ugx 2,500,000,000,000) per year, the bulk of it going to HIV/AIDS treatment with over 700,000 Ugandans receiving ARV therapy through PEPFAR.

~ #USAID was key during Covid-19 response in Uganda. In 2021, at the height of a deadly variant, #USAID contributed US$3.5 million for oxygen and other supplies. In 2022 during Ebola outbreak, Uganda received viral hemorrhagic fever kits,gloves,boots,masks and scrubs.

The Government of Uganda is laying off health workers who were being paid by #USAID and CDC after the US froze funds.

The government is asking them to now work for free as volunteers "in the spirit of patriotism"

#USAID is not just charity to African countries.
The aid connects them to markets, and markets benefit American companies and American jobs are created at home.
