A small bird sits on a branch covered with lichen, in woods bordering a river in the Adirondacks. The bird has a blue-gray back. The throat is yellow; and the belly is white with no streaking. The bird sports a broken eye ring, often referred to in guide books as eye arcs or eye crescents. This bird is also obligingly demonstrating another distinctive feature of this species: its bi-colored bill, which sets it apart from most other warblers. The lower mandible is yellow-orange.
