Furthermore, the reason male viewers might watch a HGTV show is because of an open floor plan because that leads to some good sledgehammer action—ringing true to their destructive tendencies.

With the idea of the home having less walls to create privacy, there's often the feeling in trad women of being constantly watched. And since the kitchen in these plans are often a focal point, this gives the idea of trad women always having to "perform" in the kitchen.

A relative of mine is into interior design, and unfortunately, male-centered. I was talking to her about the sexist connotations of the open-floor plan, and babyyy, she HATED me. 😭
