Unlike Shenmue Dreamcast, for which SEGA waited few months after the game’s release in Japan to complete the English translation, localisation for Skies of Arcadia began even before the game was finalised. This SOA prototype shows this👇

I realize that I forgot to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of Skies of Arcadia Dreamcast because I got the dates wrong! I had something planned, ha ha ha. An old release of an E3 build of the game👇

I messaged them on how they obtained it and it was part of a lot of 4 Dreamcasts and this was one of them. I tried asking the person if I could try buying it off them, although I have not received a response to my offer, so for now the assumption is that it's not for sale.

Interestingly, I recently found out this custom Dreamcast illustrated by Itsuki Hoshi (@yumyum7.bsky.social) is owned by someone probably in Italy. This was featured as a giveaway in Dreamcast Magazine 2000/11/17. It's neat to see it's in someone's possession after all these years!

Skies of Arcadia released 25 years ago today in Japan, gracing the Sega Dreamcast with a remarkable adventure!
A game which changed my life. And it really holds up even today! Earnest swashbuckling with a great cast of characters.

A shelf with a lot of handmade loopers and Cupils from Skies of Arcadia! Most of these are charms from Sylenis Crafts (so is the big looper!). The Wayo soundtrack, a 3D printed Cupil, and a standee featuring the main trio are also here!
My Skies of Arcadia collection once again! 🩵 I split it up so I could display all the charms from Sylenis! I really wish I knew how to make it look better, but it looks better than it did messily squeezed into one shelf. I'll figure it out when the new Vyse shows up lmao

Isapa is likely named after Izapa, a pre-Columbian archaeological site in Mexico. The Japanese transcription for Izapa is "イサパ (Isapa)", similar to how Ixa'taka's Japanese name, Montezuma, has the Japanese transcription モクテスマ(Montesuma).

Regarding the term "mounting" in the message in the image, in Japanese, the term mount has a different usage than how it's used in English. マウンティング is a loanword which means something like asserting oneself as superior to another.
