there are so many gutting stories, but this one is hitting me extra hard. just imagining wael tarabishi slowly dying without his dad there to care for him because he was jailed by ICE makes me…i don’t have words. this country is disgusting.

Nice job on this eye-catching sign! Includes a smaller message in blue, at the top right of the placard: “FU*K ICE” . (pardon my French.. I still hesitate to throw the f-bomb, tho I largely agree with a friend who said, ‘fu*k has lost its power’ ..)

A protester brought a new sign to Friday’s street action: “ICE” as the acronym for Inhumane, Callous, EVIL. The black-spotted, green and white Portland Frog (with its blue neckerchief) stands at the lower right corner of the placard, just above the word RESIST.

A Citizen clad in gray & black, wearing sunglasses (it was clear & sunny, but cold) and a pink pussy hat, holds a multicolored sign which features a upside down US flag, and the message, “American is a country of IMMIGRANTS.. NO ICE- NO TROOPS..NO Masked Secret Police”. Thank you for allowing the team to photograph you. 🌹🏆

A bespectacled citizen, wearing an olive green cap with..frog (?) eyes (frogs being a popular local motif whilst protesting ❤️), & a multi-colored scarf & coat, is accompanied by a blonde child with a light blue jacket and sparkly bow in their hair. The child rides a white unicorn which has a red and yellow horn & pink muzzle. They hold two signs: “Congress say NO to Trump & ICE”; and “ Kindness Is A Superpower, Share It”. E. McLoughlin & Broadway, Uptown Vancouver WA: The butterfly and panda are part of a mural that stretches over two sides of a building, forming a corner for this parking lot. The panda sports a bird on its back, a salamander on its hind leg, & flowers across the shoulder and foreleg. Hard to photograph the whole work without showing a lot of..cars : (

A raccoon, with rain on its shoulder & flowers (poppies?) and foliage on its haunch, stalks this parking lot. Part of a bird’s wing appears in the upper right corner of the shot. Apologies for not capturing the entire mural- it’s beautiful 🏆🌹.

This section of the mural depicts a unicorn, and a bat. At right, a rabbit leaps out of the shot- I was only able to capture its hind legs ..

There’s the rabbit ! A snail on its chest, ladybugs on its ear; the torso and legs adorned with hearts, foliage and flowers.. a moon and stars.

Community Tile Mural Project: an installation on the east side of Block and Olson Glass’ building, adjacent to a Chevron station. Inscription on horizontal tiles reads, “Be Someone Who Matters to Someone Who Matters”. This is surrounded by multicolored tiles, many featuring imprints of hands.

A closer look at the message, “Be Someone Who Matters to Someone Who Matters”, painted on white, black, blue and green tiles.

Detail of the mural: at lower left, a white tile, identifying the work as “ Community Tile Mural Project”. Also painted on this time are three images that I cannot identify. One includes the letters “PAL”-maybe the logo of a sponsor .. ? This section of the mural includes a couple purple tiles, one decorated with pink, white and green dots, with the message “Smile!” written diagonally in green across the face of the tile.

This section includes a large yellow-green tile, inscribed with messages about the mural’s creation. Hard to read, but appear to be: “Created by mentors and mentees from Boys and Girls Clubs Southwest Washington; Big Brothers Big Sisters”.. And: “Special thanks to Clark County Mural Society, Block and Olson Glass” - among others, whose names are (unfortunately) not readable : (

Saturday, Dec 27, NE Portland, Oregon- the Lloyd District, 16th/Multnomah: A seated activist attends this weekly protest. She wears a burgundy jacket & holds a sign, “Be as courageous as you can”. She is joined by three protesters wearing inflatable suits: on the left an orange & white frog with black spots, sporting a blue neckerchief; and a very tall yellow chicken with an orange bow tie. To her right, a green & white frog with black spots holds her hand and rests an arm across her shoulder.

Thurs Jan 8, NE Broadway St, Portland Oregon: a handful of neighborhood activists gathered, mid-afternoon, to protest the murder of Renee Nicole Good, which occurred the day before. Captured in this photo, standing on the left, a woman in a lavender coat holds a sign with Renee’s full name at the top, with a hand-painted portrait of her below. To the right a seated woman holds two signs: one bears the word ‘Justice’, framed by two bloodied hands.. the other reads ‘Stop ICE !’ . To her right a sign ‘No hay Paz sin Justicia’ - there is no peace without justice- rests against a lamppost. As they departed this street action the activists learned that an ICE-related shooting had just occurred in a neighborhood 5-6 miles to the east, with agents having injured two people.

Friday afternoon, Jan 9: apprx 70 activists gathered for the weekly street action along SE McLoughlin Blvd in Milwaukie Oregon, a city just south of Portland. This photo includes.. eight? protesters: prominent amongst them are a citizen accompanied by a large white dog, & holding a placard, “We stand with Minneapolis”; it also bears the name of murdered citizen Renee Nicole Good. Also present: a white unicorn with a rainbow mane and tail.

Lloyd district, NE Portland, OR: Cars, some brown-brick apartments, a white wooden building housing a nail salon & a submarine sandwich shop - all miraculously undamaged by Antifa or other urban saboteurs.

A couple women sit curbside, on scooters. On the left, a white-haired woman wearing what appears to be a black vest over a red jacket, holds a sign that reads, ‘Be as courageous as you can’.. her companion sports a Smokey the Bear-style hat, in black; and dark glasses. She’s wearing a black-and-white geometric wrap over a burgundy- colored shirt, and dark pants with a flowered design. Her sign reads, ‘No Justice No Peace’. It is speculated that they are paid provocateurs (Soros !), & likely here to foment civil unrest.

Five agitators-one standing, the others seated on chairs and assistive devices- occupy a corner in a close-in business district of Portland, Oregon. About ten folk with guitars and ukuleles provide musical support at this weekly protest in northeast Portland, OR. A yellow placard with message, “DEFEND TRUTH”, rests against a music stand, a small American flag flying at its corner. Several of the performers have a QR code affixed to their music stands, providing a link to the group’s songbook.

Weekly Saturday street action in NE Portland, OR. Some of the attendees- including this crossing guard- wear yellow Chicken Hats, inspired by local activist Jack Dickinson (AKA the Portland Chicken) who has been a ‘consistent presence’ at the nightly protests at the ICE building on South Macadam Avenue.

One of the groups of protesters occupying each corner of this intersection- NE 16th & Multnomah St, in Portland OR. At far left, a citizen holds a sign, “Don’t crown the Clown”.
