No ICE Air flight at MSP today (Wed, Feb 25).

We’ve had no flights three of the last four days, the first time that’s happened since Jan 1-4.

This is great progress, but the need for food and rent support is large, and donations are way down. Please help if you can: standwithminnesota.com

Flights, court filings and encounters indicate fewer federal agents in Minnesota, but observers remain wary Observers of detainee flights say fewer are going out, amid other decreased activities, but it’s hard to gauge exact numbers.

DHS told Reps. Omar and Craig we were down to two ICE flights per week, Strib asked for my response. Sadly, "bullshit!" didn't make it to print.

I don't know why the federal government has declared war on my state, but this is clearly because their attempt to conduct an invasion was thwarted. So they're now retaliating economically.

South Side Rapid Response is an insanely professional operation (and, I’d note, one of the most open RRs in the cities, with public channels and explicit approval for press to listen in). And its response time is less than half that of the actual official emergency services

Graph showing estimated ICE deportees at MSP Nov 10 - Feb 20; sporadic activity of around 40 people per flight some days is shown before Jan 5, followed by a large crescendo to 250 people per day that lasts several days, before decreasing, with no flight on Feb 13, and a handful of people shown each day for the last few days.

I think with ICE’s presence in MN declining we have reached the stage where we can look back and ask β€œWas anyone actually placed in danger by a decision to give the press access to what was happening, by me or anyone else?”

And the answer seems to be no.

So maybe we can drop that attack.

JFC, cut that shit in half and you’ve eradicated hunger, provided healthcare for all and made education free for all Americans. What the fuck are we doing?

Be careful, folks. ICE is still out there, circling the schools this morning. Even if this withdrawal is happening over the next week, some of the agents want to get their last bit of being shitheads in.

The person photographed here who is in their bathrobe filming armed, masked federal agents in St. Paul is MPR News journalist @samstroozas.bsky.social @mprnews.org . She is an incredible journalist and person. We do not deserve her.

Sometimes very hard not to feel like the rest of the country has abandoned Minnesota. We STILL have ICE everywhere. Our schools, businesses, and economy are in profound crisis. But without Bovino here throwing tear gas, much of the country seems to not care at all what’s being done to us.

Pushing the River BookΒ Review Recently, I read Pushing the River by Frank Bures and enjoyed it thoroughly. The book documents the history of marathon racing on the Mississippi River, other stories from the region, some of the author's personal adventures and his brush with death on cold water. Overall, it was an entertaining read and well worth picking up for your winter reading. I find book reviews somewhat tedious, but I did want to recommend this book to PaddlingLight's readers, so I'll be brief with this review. The History of the Paul Buyan Canoe Derby…

If you like adventure stories or canoeing and kayaking, you should pick up a copy of Pushing the River by Frank Bures. I enjoyed it, and here's my brief review.

Persistent reports of ICE using drones, including this highly suspected ICE drone photographed being launched from a suburban park. It’s a HoverFly Spectre, a β€œtethered” surveillance drone flown over unspooling fiber-optic cables. I’d be curious if anyone knows a civilian use case

Always remember THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH GUYS. In the realm of Online, they can just say things and have them treated as true. In the realm of Real Life, there are 115,000 polling places in America and DHS has like 15,000 dudes total.

She must go. She must be impeached”

January was a warning of where Trump will go next The administration's authoritarian project is accelerating.

As January comes to a close, it should not just become a harrowing memory.

The past four weeks are a harbinger of what is to come under Trump, as the administration showed exactly the future it's building: One in which the laws are ignored, life is cheap, and elections are hijacked by FBI raids.

Listen to how brave and unflappable these observers are. Incredible heroism and outright villainy. ICE MUST LEAVE and MUST BE DISMANTLED

31.01.2026 18:35 β€” πŸ‘ 778    πŸ” 138    πŸ’¬ 9    πŸ“Œ 3

Here’s my advice. Also, if you’re not comfortable or sure, just say no. That’s fine! The problem is people trying to promulgate codes of conduct under which NOBODY is allowed to interact with press. That’s counterproductive - in general, respectable mainstream outlets have a vital role to play.

30.01.2026 15:48 β€” πŸ‘ 428    πŸ” 43    πŸ’¬ 11    πŸ“Œ 2

So it’s another blackmail effort.

Minneapolis should press its momentum and demand not only withdrawal but start talking about the need for immediate reparations, loudly, with the total certainty that only winners have. "You have wronged us terribly and must pay recompense" and let them argue the second part.

30.01.2026 04:31 β€” πŸ‘ 7786    πŸ” 1748    πŸ’¬ 133    πŸ“Œ 61

In addition to all our stolen neighbors back, Minneapolis needs billions in federal reparations for the economic damage the US government has intentionally inflicted on this city for no reason beyond exacting some kind of bizarre political and racial retribution

Yes - until you see it firsthand, it’s hard to understand how upsetting and enraging it is to see these guys operate in your community. They are dressed for war, they beat civilians up, they openly antagonize neighbors, they’re masked, they carry people away. Everyone is livid at every scene.

You and what army?

No, really, Matt: if you want to deport and jail all my neighbors, you’re going to need an army.

We’re in the real world now bucko. This isn’t internet land where you declare something and it becomes true. You need actual dudes. So where’s your army?
