Releases like this materially move MLS forward. It makes teams/players/games easier to talk about, it takes abstract concepts and grounds them, it gives amateur tools to take their insights and prove them out, and so much more.

Sometimes the crystal ball shows you something so outlandish, you can’t even believe it. I second-guessed my own divination skills!

Triantis would be a terrific signing for the Loons: He’s a high-volume defender, tall for his position and good in the air, plays multiple positions at a high level, and still has quite a bit of room for improvement given his age. It should come as no surprise then that he has quite a few teams interested in him, which complicates getting him to MLS. Sunderland haven’t even fully committed to selling him this window as they think he could have a future with the club, even giving him 90 minutes against Rayo Vallecano in a friendly on Aug. 10. If they do, Hibs have made no secret that they wanted him back on a permanent deal, though that seems unlikely as of now. In the Championship, Derby, Portsmouth, and West Brom are all interested. If Minnesota can get this deal done, it would be a coup. Triantis is highly skilled and could slot in this season and take pressure off Wil Trapp, then assume the starting role next season as he adjusts to the league.

$9 million is one terrific piece of business for the Loons. Losing Tani hurts the team and I’m genuinely disappointed to see him go, but what an opportunity for him and what a boon to the club’s transfer fund!

Bringing in three high-ceiling prospects, a player in his prime that profiles as a potentially game-changing attacker, and a lotto ticket while turning a net profit is a pretty stellar window for #MNUFC

Really good business here, especially Fitz and Dieng.

There’s not much out there publicly on Michel yet, so I’m interested to see him as a nearly $1m player. Obviously not a massive gamble, but not really a flier/lotto ticket either.

I’m not totally sold on Rosales in the midfield — especially on the right like he is tonight — but I am very interested to see how it works.

ESPN Africa reported that personal terms were done and it was just a matter of getting the fee agreed to. No small hurdle, but it does give me more faith that a deal gets done at the last second.
