sometimes i think about miya twins who loudly insist having their own space is the best thing that's ever happened to them after they've both moved out of their childhood home, and also make excuses every month or two about why they have to have a sleepover

although, he's pretty sure this is all a misunderstanding, how can his cute baby brother ever hate the most precious and attentive man in history?

his boyfriend hadn't notice him yet, so atsumu goes back outside, gathering his thoughts for a moment. apparently kiyoomi was still convinced that osamu has something against him, and while atsumu doubts it's true, he will definitely have a little chat with his brother

when atsumu came back, osamu had fell asleep on the couch, and kiyoomi was on his phone, wailing to someone in a hushed voice

"i ruined it again motoya", he claims, sparing the kid a glance, "i thought we could start getting along, but he genuinely seems to dislike me"

right, volleyball! maybe he can bond a little more with osamu if he invites him to play with him and atsumu

"we can play sometime, if you-"

"no thanks"

kiyoomi decides to never talk again after this

kiyoomi hums, talking about volleyball managed to calm him down from the shovel talk the little kid tried to give him earlier

"that complements atsumu's", he mentions absentmindedly, and osamu just stares at him for a while, making him nervous

"yeah..."

"which one?"

"itachiyama"

"ah", osamu didn't look that impressed, "what position do ya play?"

"wing spiker"

"oh...i play too"

"ohh...which position"

"opposite hitter"

before kiyoomi can try to figure out how to revert the situation, osamu beats him to it yet again

"in that case, what do ya do anyway?", the younger asks suddenly, "ya like sports like tsumu too?"

"uhm, yeah. i'm on the volleyball team, just from another school"

his boyfriend undertands that it will take kiyoomi some time to admit, but he knows that their feelings are mutual, they are on the very same page, but it's not something so easy to explain to others, much less to a kid, even one as mature as osamu

kiyoomi has never been the easiest person to approach, he knows he's complicated and has some issues that he should work on, but atsumu had accepted him with all his flaws, and he accepted atsumu with his

"ah, i see how it is", osamu finalizes, nodding to himself, but kiyoomi just felt worse, now the kid thinks he doesn't care enough for atsumu

"yeah! exactly, and i do care for him-"

"have ya said 'i love you' to him yet?"

"well, our relationship is still pretty new-"

"has he told ya?"

but he keeps digging a bigger hole and he doesn't know how to explain himself to the kid

"i know...but he knows how i am", he swears, trying on a smile, "i promise i like him, i'm just a pretty difficult person"

"atsumu is too...that's why he needs to be cared for properly"

osamu's frown deepens, "he may not look like it, but tsumu-nii is pretty sensitive, he likes being showed he is loved"

kiyoomi knows! he spoils that guy rotten! on a daily basis!

a gasp leaves out of his lips, he did /not/ just say that

"no, no, no. it's just, that's how i used to call him before we started dating", he tries to make him understand, "it kinda stuck, but i do call him atsumu too!"

"but he calls ya cutesy names, why don't ya do it too?"

"uhm, yeah but, i'm not that affectionate myself", he tries to ammend, fidgeting with his hands, "i have never been that considerate with just anyone"

"oh? so my brother is 'just anyone' to ya?"

kiyoomi's nerves spiked up, surely he wasn't being scolded on how relationships worked by his boyfriend's little brother, right? but osamu was dead serious, clearly expecting an answer

"may i ask ya something?", he startles when osamu keeps chatting with him

"sure, go ahead"

"yer dating my brother, right?", he asks, and kiyoomi slowly nods his head, wondering where this was going, "why ya call him 'miya' then? shouldn't ya be more affectionate with him?"

well, this is bad beacuse if the movie was on, maybe then the silence wouldn't be so suffocating as right now, but osamu doesn't seem to be interested on the tv, rather he's pretty content in scrutinizing kiyoomi

and kiyoomi had ruined everything again, just great

"you are totally right", he agreed with an awkward chuckle, clearing his throat to continue, "so, do you want to watch something else, or...?"

"no"

"ah..."

"do you...want to keep watching the movie?", he hesitantly asked

"this is tsumu-nii's favorite", the younger mumbles, squinting his eyes at him a little, "it would be mean to watch it without him, dontcha think?"

"that's not-"

"ya guys continue with the movie, i'll be right back!"

atsumu left, oh god, atsumu left, kiyoomi turned around to look at osamu and had to restrain himself from flinching when he noticed the kid was already looking at him

alarms started ringing in kiyoomi's head, if atsumu was gone he'll be left alone with osamu, and that didn't go well last time

"i'll come with you!"

"sorry omi, but it'll be quicker if i take my bike", atsumu explained, "and don't worry, samu knows how to take care of himself"

"i'm sorry omi-omi, ma called", he explained, putting on his shoes in a hurry, "she needed to deliver a package today, but forgot, so i'll drop to the post office for a second, i'll be right back. samu, behave"

"i should be telling ya that, scrub", the younger grumbled

atsumu's phone rings suddenly, so he pauses the tv to pick it up "hello...?", a concerned expression painted his face, "again? but i'm busy-okay, okay, i'll go"

kiyoomi perks up in panic when the blond stood up, grabbing his jacket on the way, "miya?"

he shouldn't try to engage in small talk right now, osamu would probably get annoyed if he interrupted him while they were watching a movie, the kid was enjoying himself, happily munching on some popcorn and kiyoomi doesn't want to disturb him

right now they are watching a movie, per atsumu's request, with his boyfriend on one end of the couch and kiyoomi on the other, osamu had plopped into the couch before them, so they had to sit separetely, not that kiyoomi minded, but he felt pretty self-conscious

he won't give up, he'll gain osamu's good grace even if it's the last thing he does, not only it would make atsumu happy, but kiyoomi genuinely doesn't want the younger boy to have a bad impression of him

he hasn't really had the opportunity to properly connect with him, but he's sure the kid is as great as atsumu says, so all this cold distance and indifference must be kiyoomi's own fault, for some reason
