Florida is the best place to retire for wealthy, conservative white people, many of whom own properties and charge rent to those people living in the states at the bottom of this list.

Honestly, the West Wing hits just as hard today with most of its political issues. I regularly think about the episode where people get to come in for a day to pitch their cause, and there's that presentation about the entire world map being inaccurate and racist

And this is but one of the many reasons we need the AI industry regulated immediately. Or for the bubble to burst and these vampires to go extinct

Not just Blue. I personally do not want a legion of Chuck Schumers leading the charge

Is that a Blue Yeti in the top left? I am conflicted about the fact I can recognize it solely from the base hahaha

I think world leaders have learned how to deal with Trump in the moment by flattering his ego. But I took the crown as a satirical insult that Trump was too narcissistic to recognize

I hope you live in a bunker and are 100% self-sustained, because we use AI whether we want to or not. It cannot be avoided in many people's lives if they want to eat. Blame the rich oligarchs who created wage slavery instead of people who literally cannot avoid to the privilege of choice

Fewer people than ever read literary magazines of any genre. Fewer people read, period. The literary world, including the speculative branch, has become increasingly insular and one where recognition no longer extends into mainstream popular culture. What affect do think this is having on writers?

I think people frequently do extremely stupid things for attention, but this isn't one of them. We don't need reasons to challenge ourselves. Why are you so bothered by a person testing his limits and doing what he loves, all while doing no harm? What's worthless to you is invaluable to someone else

24.10.2025 23:10 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Trump is allergic to facts. They make his narcissism flare up.

I'm not pretending to be anything or superior to you. But your colors certainly showed here. People tend to react defensively like you did when they are called out for things. It's not enough that we both agree Mussolini was horrible. Human decency matters too.

1st world country is an ignorant term, and it damages your credibility in an argument. Not that you are acting in good faith to begin with. You contently failed to address my core point anyways, using a misleading statistic. Europe reads poorly too, spend five minutes reading and you'd know that

24.10.2025 00:15 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

You say that like it isn't true of glorious Europe too ๐Ÿ™„
Look at the idiots being elected over there. Millions voted for the AfD in Germany. I'm tired of hearing "America stupid, America bad" all the time. We don't have a monopoly on stupidity.

Don't glorify extrajudicial killings, even if the people were heinous. And don't use sexist insults just because she was a bad woman. Trump should get a trial in a real court of law and go to prison. If we lose our humanity fighting the inhumane, then what was the point?

23.10.2025 23:39 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 4    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It's an idiom that doesn't really directly translate into English, but one here might say that the NYT is "orchestrating its own demise"

22.10.2025 13:20 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I'd love to live in that world, but that isn't reality and has never been reality. Law exists because people will always hurt one another in self-interest. Law exists because even democracy can be tyranny for those in the minority. And law often ends up being the tyranny regardless. People hate.

21.10.2025 14:20 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I don't think that's a better system. Congress is a partisan, political body; the only benefit is the power doesn't rest with a single, partisan agent anymore. But pardons would still be political. That wouldn't change. Justice should be divorced entirely from political agenda, in an ideal world

21.10.2025 14:14 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Presidential pardons also have the ability to correct grave injustices when used properly. But any authority vested solely in a single person is inherently undemocratic. The pardons should always be subject to review by a panel of nonpartisan federal judges

21.10.2025 13:16 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Well, no, he's in power because the world hasn't moved forward enough. He didn't create bigotry and hate; he used what was already simmering there. That's why we need the law to protect civil liberties. Individuals cannot be trusted to do so.

21.10.2025 13:08 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 4    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

As a German, you are also intimately familiar with what happens next when one's democratically elected leader becomes a fascist dictator. Let's hope we can turn things around before it gets worse.

Calling it a scam doesn't change the reality that it is a real thing which matters to people's lives. You can criticize a system without being callous and disingenuous

The stock market is not just a "rich person casino." 70 million Americans, give or take, have 401Ks they invest in to be able to retire and not work until they die. Those portfolios are tied to the stock market

I'm canceling my subscription to @nytimes.com as of now. They've been slipping for a long while now, but the fact yesterday's protests were not the headline story is just inexcusable. Also their "The Morning" email newsletter today led with... baseball. I'm done.
