Joel Maxwell: Zombie politics and the lost art of actually doing things OPINION: Politicians used to have dreams - maybe modest, maybe grand. These days some just aspire to the perfect 50-word shitpost on X.

Not an economist but pretty certain sovereign credit downgrade = interest rate rises = higher mortgage interest = middle class calamity.

Jeezus! We're heading for a credit downgrade?

How the hell are the Govt's loyal battalion of political reporters, editors & pundits going to spin THAT one?

The polls continue to underestimate the Māori vote β€” even as this government tries to choke it at the registration stage. HapΕ« are already on the ground, running grassroots campaigns to get our people registered and turning up on the day. No hāngi required. β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ€

My daughter put me onto this app.
You scan barcodes when you're shopping to find if products have links to Isrāēl.
Quite empowering, really?
Spoiler alert: turns out a LOT of groceries in our pantry are on the blacklist.

It's almost as if the Gallery has forgotten it's part of their job to ask ministers if they'll resign as a consequence of ministerial fuck ups.

Wow that trial bootcamp was a disaster of titanic dimensions.

And yet zero members of the Gallery calling for the Minister's head?

A truly fascinating contrast to former Govts.

So the PM's chief of staff, who made the decision to un-designate the Proud Boys as a terrorist group is the same guy who, along with some ACT party mates, successfully drove the Waikato students Union into voluntary-membership - & thus oblivion - in the 90s.
Leopards, spots etc.

Nah just a 42. It's a 11-36 but I also purchased a 11-40t cassette, then remembered I left the tool in another country. Grrr. we'll have to wait a month or two to be fitted.

Rode to the market for eggs & bread on this bright chilly Kirikiriroa winter's morning .
In awe of the Kona's drivetrain tweaks. Narrow wide single chainring, new chain & the stock GRX400 rear derailleur.
All for waaay less than a tank of gas.
So smooth & quiet.
Never going back to a front mech eva

There's no precedent for a PM who doesn't last a single term, and hasn't previously held a high Govt office to get a knighthood.

Is this what's weighing on Luxon's mind, and all that grimace grinning of late?

Israel’s delusional, inhuman Gaza takeover plan could be recipe for perpetual war Decision will place huge financial burden on Israel and could lead to massive increase in Palestinian civilian deaths

Sure, but isn't that the plan?

really feels like housing affordability is one of the most important political issues of our time, affecting nearly every aspect of our lives, and everyday our mainstream political discourse is about whether sour cream is woke or not

Tautoko to MC for doing msm's job yet again.

This is a shocking indictment on NZ Treasury... basically lying to us in an effort to shame a past Labour Govt.

Or maybe Treasury just subcontracted their report out to the ACT party?

Under-rated little town. 11,000 ppl, a canal (& towpath & port & boatyard), fantastic Thursday street market with the best duck butcher you could hope to find anywhere. The time to be there is Spring and Autumn.

Yeah, it looks pretty bad, doesn't it? I checked and the location is 20km SW of Narbonne - always super-dry down there near the Med coast. We were in Narbonne late May - scorchio! Castelsarrasin, where our boat is right now has 10 days of mid-30 sunny days forecast. Eeek!

Tory Whanau on the phones at green office

I’m one of those millennials who hates talking on the phone… will literally stare at it until it goes to voicemail. But I loved chatting to people about the Māori Ward referendum.

There’s heaps of people who don’t realise there’s an election this year. We’ll need more volunteers soon. DM if keen.

For those keeping track, the Campaign Company has now been involved in:
- Stop 3 Waters
- Rates Cap Campaign
- Anti Māori Wards Billboard campaigns

Clearly there’s some big money backers out there trying to manipulate local elections. Gotta ask yourself why that might be and who is sharing it!
