But neither is the Canadian - I paid 1000s out of pocket on top of my 60%+ in taxes. So def NOT free. And if my cancer had been more complicated I would have moved to the US for treatment, because while it CAN cost more, when your life is on the line you want the options you get here. My view anyway

That was just for surgery - not full cost of treatment. Also didn’t get the same treatment options that I did in the US (I moved back), which could have had health impacts. Had major surgery again in US last year and total cost including hospital stay was 2K. Again, not saying US system is perfect…

I lived in Canada. I had cancer. I ❤️ Canada but this is a huge oversimplification. First, taxes aren’t slightly higher - they are hugely higher (esp in QC). I had to pay out of pocket (CAD $12K) for my surgery b/c the free public option meant a four month wait (again, I had cancer - days matter)
