15.12.2025 06:21 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Would folks be interested in a tools/libraries workshop? Like best practices on the architecture/design side? And would anybody who's actually been published in viz be interested in helping run the workshop?
15.12.2025 04:34 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0continuing my streak of rejected conference talks where it could be content or admin (submitted late 🤦♀️) or both. I have been on such a bad run lately that it's making me question my intuition on all the things. 😶
12.11.2025 16:08 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Oh no definitely, the female geeks could be better - Stewart's girlfriend was probably the most normal of the bunch and added specifically cause of the criticism.

12.11.2025 01:35 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Honestly, I think this ties into my theory that some of the folks mad at the big bang theory aren't mad about "misrepresentation" but actually that it hits too close to home.
12.11.2025 01:15 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Uh...yeah, the folks I know w/ excellent math skills who do fine are the ones w/ the social skills to understand that being good at math doesn't make them all knowing.

10.11.2025 00:56 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Given how many news orgs have lost independence due to their owners lately, I'm very impressed that the @bloomberg.com podcasts have been super even handed on their coverage of Zohran this entire election cycle.

Pulling up the old @digitalfellows.bsky.social email templates cause I'm blanking on wording for the digital signage request for the Data Science and Applied topology seminar.
Which, check out the seminar:

Just opened up a big python project in vscode on an AI enabled laptop & a minute in I wanna shut it off. Non-intrusively auto complete sphinx - great! Try to guess what I'm trying to do in docs and be completely wrong, not so much. :/
28.10.2025 18:38 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Been thinking on loop of how untenable it is, for any org of similar scale and scope, that the gov't can cancel and claw back POSE funding if any non-POSE work meets the gov'ts ever changing definition of DEI.

06.08.2025 22:17 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Been hearing a lot about this on pods - my guess is what folks often mean is hand curated - personalized as in the person recommending has thoughtful reasons for each choice & there's a cohesiveness to the choices that makes it feel personal to someone who vibes with the recommendations

My grandma's method, which I inherited, for making rice was boil, strain, rinse with hot water, put back in pot to cook & today I saw that's basically the recommend way to handle arsenic in rice so now I'm curious if something like that is how her method came about

Almost every complaint about "problematic" media aimed at women from that era makes me feel this way cause it often fails to contextualize how progressive a lot of these were for the time (which is probably why they even have enough staying power for folks to have heard of 'em now)
