My class this quarter is very small. Not bad by itself, but not great considering I designed the class to be for 30 people, not 7. I don't think my current set up is going to work as well but I don't have good ideas for what else to do.

What are some creative things you do in small classes?

The reason I don't post on social media anymore is because the only thing I ever have to say is summed up by this sentence.

I generally think 25% is too much for one part of the grade. BUT it really depends on the assignment and what else went into that grade.

In one of my classes, one of their assignments is 30% of the grade, but it's broken into parts across the quarter so it doesn't feel like such a drastic ending.

I used to be healthy in all the noticeable ways and now that I keep needing to do medical stuff I don't know what to do with myself.

When do you decide to be on medical leave? How soon after a surgery do you write recommendation letters?

This is annoying.

Right now there are 33ish PhD students and I think about 30 of them are funded through the department. I think it's "usually" around 25 but covid made things weird.

I don't know if there is an actual number, though, since money here is fake and weird.
