Studying and Recovering Take Patience Homework ☑ Today I finished all of my homework in the morning. Father says I am really smart. He told me that if I want to become a doctor one day, I'd have to work very hard. I don't feel scared at all. I want to save lots of people, just like father. Recovery ☑ But later, my body started to hurt again. It hurt so much that even breathing felt like fire in my chest. When I woke up, father was holding my hand. But unlike the others, something golden was flowing out. He said it's called Ichor, and it can make me better. It really hurts, but the cure has to hurt before it helps, so I think it's okay. He told me, "When you can control it all by yourself, the pain will go away."

Being the Big Brother Today I met my "little brother" Rhein for the first time. I can hardly see colors anymore, but I can still see gold. His hair is golden, just like mine and father's. It's kind of amazing-our family isn't connected by blood, but all three of us have the same golden hair. Gold. The color of Ichor. Rhein is still very small and he suffers from the pain. Tears well in his eyes and his face is paler than everyone else's. When he cries, I don't know what to do. My chest feels tight, like I should do something. Because I'm his big brother. So I took all the candies the grown-ups gave me and put them in his hands. I can't do much. And I don't like that feeling.

A Clumsy Doctor? Today I found out something new: Rhein is really good at drawing! He drew a picture of our family and gave it to me. We're rarely ever together like that, it made me so happy. What can I give back to him? I'm kind of clumsy. Last time I tried to make him a cake, I totally messed it up. That made me feel a little worried. If I'm so clumsy, how will I ever hold a scalpel when I become a doctor? But Rhein says I understand things very fast, and that I'm more dedicated than everyone else. He says I'm already better than lots of people. So why do I study so hard? Is it because of those medical books? Or is it for people like me... like Rhein? My father once asked me, "If you want to be a kind person, you'll have to go through more pain. Are you willing to do that?" I said yes. I didn't even need to think about it. I want to be that kind of person.

The Future I've Been Dreaming Of Today is a rare day when I don't need treatment. But I didn't know what to do at all. I sat by the window for a long, long time. The sunlight fell on me. It was gentle and warm, with a soft golden color that made my chest feel light. So I started to imagine my future. Resonators can live for a very long time, and my father said Ichor chose me and only me from among thousands. But that also makes me feel a little lost. I never really thought I would live past twenty. But if... if I really can live for a long, long time, then I should do something important with that time. When I get a chance to rest, I want to go somewhere warm. A place where the sun is always shining, and where we won't feel anxious or pressured. We could live quietly and peacefully. Just thinking about it makes me calm.
