I also think Battlefield V's gunplay was highly underrated; a casualty of the hatred casted at everything else in the game.

Divisive as it was, I was all for attrition and wish they continued to refine it for newer games. It forced you to think about decisions, weigh options against resources, and incentivized active teamplay.

When it worked, it worked especially well.

Played Battlefield V multiplayer for the first time in years. I'll still back that game even after all this time.

Yeah, I mean it has an open-world but it [so far] doesn't have the repetitive and odd mission structure that Most Wanted had. Rivals is guided by chapters that have a set of missions you can pick from, so it feels fresh-ish.

I just don't fuck with this fandom, ever. I once said the ending to ATLA was a cop-out by making Aang and Katara a couple. I got absolutely grilled for that lmfaoooo

Sony Pictures just straight up revealing the Spider-Man: Brand New Day suit on their own terms is a much smarter play than letting random people leak it through shoddy phone photography.

Rivals is a weird Frankenstein monster. It has pieces from all these racing games and meshes it into one whole thing. But this one feels much closer to Criterion's Hot Pursuit.

But both of those games are much better, imo. Criterion of the early 2010s just had the NFS-Burnout thing on lock.

The cops in NFS Rivals are absolutely shitty though.

As a cop, you can go out of your way to ram into a racer who's more or less following traffic laws, and the cop will radio in and claim THEY hit HIM before spawning in the entire PD for backup lmfaooo

Anyway, playing this now before the server shutdown on Oct 7. Two multiplayer trophies go offline with it. Nothing too damning but I'd rather get the full experience before it's offline forever. The always-online stuff seems integral to that.

But yeah so far it's fun, not perfect. I like it enough.

Still didn't stop this from happening, though:

Although I'm surprised they didn't address a fatal flaw in online multiplayer: repair shops.

They absolutely destroy the core design of cops vs. racers. You can infinitely camp one and farm 'SP' like mad if you're a racer. Replenish your health, over and over again. Makes cop gameplay impossible.

I picked up Need for Speed Rivals tonight. Fully expected to pass on it after a few hours. Nope. Actually, I'm enjoying it a lot! The single player stuff is fun so far, both as racer and cop.
