Excited to show our latest preprint βUranocenium β The bis-[8]annulene Uranium Cationβ.
Uranocene is oxidised to uranocenium cation both chemically, and electrochemically, with reversibility comparable to ferrocene.
This derives from an unusual electronic structure.

Like f-elements in unusual oxidation states?
Please look at this 4-year #PhD position between Manchester and Peking University to isolate formally divalent molecules and determine their electronic structures with advanced X-ray spectroscopic techniques.

Happy to share Benβs first full research article from his time in the group: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
Challenging synthesis and some interesting new main group architectures making an appearance for the first time on an f-element.

Dark green / black crystals inside a glass tube.
Happy to announce two funded #PhD studentships for aspiring synthetic chemists to do some f-element molecule making.
(1) High oxidation states; (2) Tuneable electronic structures for qubits.
See: www.capgoodwin.com/pages/positi... for details, and below for both FindAPhD links.
Thanks very much for having me at Greenwich, was a lovely day out. Hope to catch up another time for more echem advice and Turkish delight.

Working on my X-it at the moment and shifting over here. The #Chemistry community is growing at a solid clip, and I look forward to seeing more new folks!
Itβs fitting that my first post here includes some glorious crystals and #felement colours. Courtesy of 2nd yr PhD researcher Cameron Deakin.
Hi #ChemSky! π We see you! Please give us a moment to get settled here.

Itβs much easier to just spoon it in small portions onto ice in a well ventilated hood.
Except in very special circumstances, ice isnβt flammable :).
