01.09.2025 07:26 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Maybe in time weโll get more realistic. Weโre always going to feel the loss. But, maybe then it would hurt lessโฆ feel less personal.
Maybe then we could love, and be loved in return. But not lie to each other about what it really means; and wish each other well when comes the season to move on.
After all we, as fans, have more than enough love for our club to go around. And, thereโs more than enough magic in football without us all agreeing to live under some kind of spell of total devotion and timeless loyalty.
01.09.2025 00:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Maybe we shouldnโt require that of players; people who, at the end of the day, signed a contract not a lifetime covenant.
Maybe we donโt need it from them either. As long as theyโre doing their job wellโฆ doing all they can, giving of their best.
Maybe players like Alexander Isak donโt really love our club like they make out they do. But maybe we shouldnโt expect them to either.
Iโm not saying that football should be cold, hard business. But neither, perhaps, should it be a pretence of unbridled passion and undying loyalty.
But, in our ecstasy, our adoration, our fanaticism, our partisan sense of triumphโฆ maybe weโve bought into a lie or at least allowed ourselves to believe a half-truth.
01.09.2025 00:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Because weโve had some good times with Isak. Heโs scored some goals that meant a lot to us. Done some near impossible things that fired our imaginations. Heโs given us some feelings - in supporting this club - weโve scarcely known before. Heโs helped us feel pride, helped us walk tall.
01.09.2025 00:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Itโs hard to feel good about it. About the whole thingโฆ about any part of it.
And, maybe weโre all partly to blame. Maybe weโre all complicit, have all set ourselves up for a fall.
You canโt help but feel youโve been mugged offโฆ playedโฆ made a fool of. And, watching us struggle for three gamesโฆ squander precious points that could so easily have been oursโฆ whilst he sat on his hands, played HIS game and now gets his wishโฆ
01.09.2025 00:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0And, yet, only a few months back he rode an open top bus grinning ear to ear, rode the tidal wave of public support all the way onto the stage at Town Moor that night, and agreed to be filmed on an Adidas promo film all about pride and belonging.
01.09.2025 00:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I would always support any individual to leave a situation they no longer want to be in. Would always resist any institution exerting its power over an individual to their detriment.
01.09.2025 00:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I have no doubt that Isak has a genuine sense of grievance towards figures at the club. I totally understand that careers are short and an elite level talent such as his deserves elite opportunities for achievement.
