#OTD 45 years ago (7 Oct 1980) according to my diary, I drew these images for the Hitchhiker's Guide BBC TV series. Douglas Adams as both the ad exec and as Paula, the worst poet in the universe. I was 19 years old and having fun.

I was reading *all* the making of books I could get my hands on in the 70s/80s and tbh my recollection is this one was a bit mid. The Making of Star Trek remains the gold standard but others I really enjoyed included King Kong ‘76, Superman ‘78 (surprisingly frank) and Dune ‘84.

At some point in 2017 I made this. The world just wasn’t ready…

I'm now picturing a stage show based around kids TV writers who, for some reason, need to get fired and so set out to put as much rudeness in as possible but end up making a cult hit. Think The Producers but with puppets, no budget and a Fred Harris type as the presenter.
