Light attenuation, Lambert's and Light Falloff (Inverse Square Law) all combine to create realistic and appealing colour cohesion and value composition (chiaroscuro).

Look these up! Maybe you'll find that you understand art in a more logical manner. It may work for you more than intuition, maybe!

It's important to consider light fall off too. When light "decays" some wavelengths persist better than others.

For example, in a warm yellow light, where light isn't fully intense, you might see a nice shade of red (because it's wavelength is persistent)

Which is why you see a halo of orange!

When you do shading, sometimes exaggerating the attenuation of light can create really dynamic effects, paired together with Lambert's Cosine Law.

A common application is when a light shines from top to bottom. You can make the parts closer to the light brighter than the parts at the bottom.

In computer graphics, light shaders are often programmed using Lambert's Cosine Law. The Law dictates that light that hits a surface in an angle to the angle is less intense than that of light that hits at a perfect 90 degree angle (directly). The more the angle, the less intense!

Have you ever heard of light attenuation?

It's a process in which light "decays" when travelling longer distances in different mediums.

There's attenuation in the air, in water, in other mediums.

In art, it creates a very nice dynamic "spotlight" effect that creates good chiaroscuro!

Oh wow, this is such a difficult question. I like my OCs all for different reasons, and dislike them for different reasons too. My comfort character to draw is Sorbet, I suppose he would be my favourite one? It's hard to just quantify things like this though hahaha.
