A lunar eclipse is when the moon falls in the earth’s shadow, so the earth is directly between the moon and sun. A lunar eclipse (total) makes the moon appear dark or red ("blood moon"). A new moon makes the moon invisible as its illuminated side faces away from Earth.

"On Feb. 28, we will see not one, not two, but six planets in the evening sky," writes Alyssa Lee on the space agency's "Watch the Skies" blog. "Mercury, Venus, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus, and Jupiter will appear shortly after sunset."

It’s a photo from December 2020. I rediscovered it last week while I was reviewing archive files. It’s interesting how one can overlook certain images when they don’t fit the paradigm of the moment… then after 5 years have an aha moment!

I often wonder about the same thing. Carleton Watkins, one of the earliest landscape photographers, did a bunch of photos in this area in the mid 1800s.

Had some questions on photo info:
Nikon D850 with NIKKOR 24-70 f/2.8G (f/9 & 45mm @1/160 sec, ISO 100)
Raw processing in Capture One pro;
B/W conversion using Silver efex pro in Photoshop.

Prints are on Hahnemuhle PhotoRag 308 GSM using a Canon PRO-1000. Prints are 17x17” (image size is 14x14)

The print is pretty spectacular… it’s a 17”x 17” (image size 14x14) on Hahnemuhle PhotoRag (if you don’t know the paper, it is a 100 % cotton archival paper with a matte finish which gives it a beautiful texture)

It was a #cold morning! This is an atypical Tunnel View photo… most of the time you see the sweeping expanse of the whole valley.
