It took four years for them to diagnose her multiple myeloma, repeatedly writing off her jaw pain, back pain, skin irritation, etc as anxiety and depression. It wasn’t until she went into kidney failure that they finally took her seriously. This is medical gaslighting.

I filed a complaint with how my symptoms were brushed off, including after a hospitalization. I was told it wasn't their fault bc I didn't go into organ failure...which is not needed for a vasculitis diagnosis.

Not nearly as long, but I was told my vasculitis was anxiety for over a year and I had to leave undergrad. It was diagnosed when I got sick in another place (CRP was 77 mg/L)

That's fair. I've talked about article count particularly in relation to my chronic illness, as I'm proud I was able to produce a certain amount despite feeling terrible (but I usually include that reasoning).

My brain is broken from "disabled kids' malnutrition is not seen as valid as non-disabled kids" views in media. Industry needs to do better.

Can some people become more erratic because it's frustrating to have cognitive issues start? Sure. But, that's not the discussion that's being had.

A lot of chronically ill people have cognitive symptoms since forever. No, we're not disproportionately being violent or being serial killers or something.

Some non-disabled Covid cautious people would do a good job learning about disability and chronic illness in a non-stigmatizing way.

The way some Covid cautious people talk about Long Covid, for instance, is deeply entrenched in ableism. No, people are not becoming bad people because they're having cognitive symptoms.
