Updates on the national #chooseldnursing campaign. Aware #TommyJessop is our need ambassador but hoping there are plans in 2025 to get us all on board nationally to campaign collectively and proactively for our field and highlight how important and great a career it is!

Yes there are groups campaigning as our system is failing as much as SEND system in England. We want to promote having more learning disability nurses as part of the assessment processes in education and educational planning or educating teacher, in our journey through education

I’ve found there to be poor knowledge base , lack of multidisciplinary working and reliance on “ toolkits” to support neurodivergent children in totally inappropriate environments. Hence all the “ ghost” children throughout UK.

Increased poor mental health for neurodivergent children and young people will lead to increased needs as adults.

We need more learning disability nurses. I’m biased as I used to be one. With increasing numbers of children with disability and additional support needs, the transferable skills LD nurses have (including education) are needed more and more.

Thankyou and we are flying our flag and campaigning actively in the East of England. 44% drop of #ldnurses in the last decade is absolutely unacceptable and we must remedy this crisis!
