Last of the prints for now just came in! There are only 3 of this one, as it was a test to see how my photographs would look. Once again, CatPrint delivered with top-notch quality! I need a better way to show off the prints though. My phone camera just doesn't cut it.

The marsh was painted yellow in fall with these burr marigolds. Evidently they're a type of hitchhiker, in the same genus as the white ones at home. Not sure which species these are, either Bidens laevis or Bidens cernua. I'm thinking B. laevis, though. #flower #naturephotography #plants #nature

Black-and-white Warbler (Mniotilta varia) creeping around the tree trunk. I'm finding out that my big new lens does not perform well in poor lighting. Something about the f-stop and longer focal length needing higher apertures, I think. I don't shoot in low light often anyway but was hoping to more.

A juvenile grackle already mastering the art of fishing, a pair of young gallinules, and a snowy egret with its dragonfly catch.

A pair of ducks floating together on hydrilla-infested water. Their bodies are mostly brown, with black and white undersides, gray heads and upper necks, and bright pink bills.

Here's a species I occasionally see (and frequently hear) at the marsh but hadn't had the fortune of photographing until this past June, the Black-bellied Whistling Duck (Dendrocygna autumnalis)! Unmistakable for a number of features, but their bright bills perhaps most of all. #birds #wildlife

Lookie what I found! Not a snake but a really cool legless - AKA glass - lizard! Haven't seen one of these since I was a kid, and never any so big. This one was chonky and a respectable 16" long, 'though I understand they get even bigger.

A brown bird sits perched among some reeds, with blue water in the background. The bird has a long, dark bill. Her wings and top of the body are a darker brown, with her throat and belly a lighter shade. The edges of her feathers have a soft yet ragged appearance.

Boat-tailed Grackle (Quiscalus major) at the marsh. Again, in June last year. The females of the species are a mix of browns unlike the iridescent black males. But this one I'm thinking was either molting or a juvenile, given her bob tail and rough feathers. #birds #wildlifephotography #nature
