68 years ago today, #Laika was sent into space on an involuntary suicide mission. She became the first animal to orbit Earth, but died in agony just hours after launch as her capsule reached fatal temperatures.

Today we remember Laika & all victims of animal testing β€οΈβ€πŸ©ΉπŸΆ

A Postmortem on Veganism Is Premature The massive scale and influence of the meat industry shouldn’t be underestimated.

Eulogies for veganism tend to downplay this critical point: taking on the meat industry β€” a monster machine with unparalleled lobbying and marketing resources β€” was never a fair fight.

Wildlife recovery means more than just survival of a species Current laws that deem species safe from extinction ignore their ecological role, geographic range and genetic diversity, as well as their relationships with people.

For decades, wildlife policy has defined recovery as survival, keeping species alive, but not truly allowing them to live.

From wolves to grizzlies to bison, we’ve settled for the bare minimum. What if conservation meant more than avoiding extinction?

Should wolves be part of NY's conservation priorities? Should New York include wolves in their wildlife conservation plan? The DEC is finalizing its 10-year Wildlife Action Plan and it doesn't include wolves.

New York’s updated wildlife plan leaves wolves out, despite evidence they’re here. In 2021, a wolf was killed near Cooperstown, yet NY refuses to collect DNA or include wolves in its plan. Wolves deserve protection, not denial.

Most wool comes from factory farms with documented abuse patterns: Shearing speeds prioritize efficiency over welfare, leading to cuts, nicks, and rushed handling that causes stress. "Summer haircut" language infantilizes and trivializes the experience. Disgusting propaganda. #AnimalRights
