Chicago's downgrade isn't surprising.
I've been warning for years that Mayor Johnson putting more backloaded borrowing on the taxpayers’ credit card would come at a cost. www.chicagobusiness.com/politics/chi...
Thanks to the Chicago Loop Alliance’s Residential Committee for this evening’s discussion about safety, development, and infrastructure improvements throughout the Loop!

As we hold the Mayor accountable for implementing the budget, we should also hold him accountable for his own executive orders.
Chicago riders are still waiting.
If we know the lines, stations, and times where violations happen most, we can target hot spots and deploy resources strategically to snuff this out right now!
Leadership isn’t a signing ceremony.
Riders deserve a clean, healthy, & safe transit system.
CTA hasn’t released the data I requested. The Mayor hasn’t followed through on his own order.
But @chicago.suntimes.com FOIA’d the data and identified where & when smoking happens most: chicago.suntimes.com/transportati...
Last summer, I called for data-driven enforcement of smoking on the CTA to increase safety, ridership, and revenue.
Instead of hearing our call, Mayor Johnson issued an executive order and has now blown past his own reporting deadline. ⬇️

This afternoon, I had a great visit at the American Writers Museum, which is located on the 2nd floor of 180 N. Michigan. 📚 I especially appreciated the exhibit on notable Chicago authors!
Its central location near many other museums makes it a great stop when visiting our ‘Cultural Stadium.’
Need a pick-me-up? Look no further than Ancient Grounds, which just opened a new location at 1050 W. Van Buren! ☕️
Whether you want a classic cup of joe or a flight of specialty lattes, the West Loop’s newest coffee shop has something for everyone.
An intercity bus station is critical for Chicagoans and visitors.
But before spending $50M in taxpayer funds to buy & rehab this station, we need a good deal & clear plan to address nearby safety issues.
Given his track record, I’m not confident that the Mayor can do that.
Happy World Nutella Day! 🍫 Proud to have the Ferrero Innovation Lab right here in the 34th Ward!

When scofflaws like this abuse the system, we all pay the price.
Mayor Johnson may not want to act on debt collection, but bad actors should be held accountable and taxpayers deserve relief.
Amidst increasing faith-motivated hate crimes, our laws need to protect the diverse religious communities across our city.
I’m proud that this ordinance that will protect religious communities from harassment is moving forward with the support of my colleagues and the Jewish United Fund.

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jewish people & millions more killed during the Holocaust.
“Never again” isn’t just about remembering - it’s about taking action to stamp out hate, especially amidst a rise in antisemitism.
Great catching up with the businesses on Jewelers Row along with 1st District Police about public safety, development, and capital improvements in the area!

34th Ward Snow Update: main streets are in good shape.

Today, I introduced an ordinance updating the Noise Sensitive Zone law to better reflect Chicago's diverse religious communities.
With hate crimes targeting people based on faith on the rise, it's critical our laws protect everyone's right to gather safely and worship without fear.
