I explained the near-term protected network to City Mgr & Traffic Engr, per Master Plan, then ranked them by LTS and injury history. Instead, they did Stoneridge (LTS 2!, no injuries) - twice!
Not in the Master Plan but they said it was to get TDA approval.

I called MultiHog a year ago and they said their electric model didn't quite meet their specs yet. Not sure what, maybe battery life or something. I shared this with Council... said we'd be here next year and still not have it. (I might be correct.)

Pleasanton approved the funding a year ago, but didn't order it (MultiHog) until recently. I'm told it's on order now but no delivery date yet.
I'm surprised Hayward canceled out.

Hayward has one. When I was on ACTC BPAC, we approved theirs.

Also, "opportunity cost" - that's $300k that won't go to more protected bike lanes!

15mph, I think. We have less than 15 miles of protected lanes. Scheduled sweeping is 1/month. Most of the time would be in transit, unless you loaded it on a trailer like they do for lawn mowers.
We contract a portion of our service. If the contractor owned a mini, that would be most efficient.

The City of Livermore has one and they offered it to Pleasanton. I'm told they couldn't work out the financial stuff (OpEx versus which contractor drives the thing. TDA is considered "grant" money, so that mattered somehow.)

The City of Pleasanton spent TDA funds (~$300k) on one. By my math, it'll be used for about 20-40 hours per year, maybe one shift per month if they're inefficient. If Public Works does the calculation, they should conclude that manual sweeping is cheaper. (So few protected lanes.)

ACTC gives Pleasanton money every year. Pleasanton published bike plans in 2010, 2018, and we're expecting the next one in 2026. (Not 5 years)
ACTC and MTC won't deny Pleasanton money despite their deliberate and systematic disregard of the rules.

So-called "action minutes" means that City Council never know what the community thinks. Even so, the last approved meeting minutes were Jan. 2025.
The community has effectively been silenced.
Sophistry.

My traffic engr (you know him) said he didn't believe in bike boulevards. If people don't like (stressful street) they can use google.
At the last CIP mtg with the bike/ped committee, they were told "you don't get to choose."

My traffic engrs tell me they *have* to keep speed limits high. Blah, blah ... sightlines and the 85th percentile driver. (If most people break the speed limit, we raise it.)
Oddly, installing bollards is considered "traffic calming" even on roads cyclists don't use - while our HIN gets nothing.

"...proof that bike lanes work best as part of a growing network, not as isolated segments."
"...the lesson is straightforward: when people feel safe, they ride. And when routes connect meaningful destinations, they keep riding."

Option 4 should be "inversely concerned," that elderly or disabled people riding e-bikes will be hit by a vehicle.

I'm in California, so it's not easy to try your recommendations. But reading about "well-baked brownie edges" gives me the hyggelig/koselig feels. I'm a brown-porter-stout guy all year long.
Try Calicraft Oaktown Brown if you're ever out this way. todd_n

Who is on the first review committee? I'm part of a local group supporting the #MakePollutersPay Bill (2027) and I can rally them to send letters to committee members. We are all in RBK's district.

I was hit by a car once. I slammed into its windshield so hard that I flew over the top and broke its rear window on the way down. Unconscious on the pavement. That car and driver were fully licensed. It didn't stop them. They were not given a citation.
Agreed, let's focus on the actual problems.

My wife (shall remain nameless) was a PA announcer at figure skating events and a volunteer course marshall at UCI bike races. The family are big fans in this Venn diagram. (Also track & field and college basketball, WNBA, Unrivaled, etc.)
Are Johnny Weir and Jonathan Vaughters related?
