Mexican jay at the Ash Canyon Bird Sanctuary

This is terrific!!

Close up photo of the head and shoulders of a Great Blue Heron in profile. Its translucent, white nictitating membrane is covering the front third or so of its cornea. The heron is perched in a low branch of a weeping Willow tree, so multiple small branches are hanging down in front of it. It is minimally obscured.

This is a female pyrrhuloxia that lives somewhere in my backyard
In this photo she is in the big mesquite tree near the house

The picture is from a couple weeks ago on a cloudy morning. The bird is primarily brown and tan with a lot of spots.

On a cloudy afternoon a couple weeks back I took this picture of a male Gambel's quail on one of our habitat piles
