#writingcommunity I've added a framing device to my novel. I changed the narrator from the Unreliable MC, to an equally Unreliable Narrator who is transcribing everything the MC tells him. It's like Heart of Darkness now.

The opening scene no longer takes place in a bathroom.

I have an old DVD that is letterboxed all the way around. It was designed for old TV (the square ones). So it has the blackness on the top and bottom, but my tv is widescreen and the dvd puts blackness over the "new" part of the tv

In all honesty, I wasn't sure of the symbolism either. It was a cool way to end the story.

Not every medicine works the same way in everyone. Some people get better, some don't, some are allergic. I've been to psych Dr too. They suck. They have a list of medicine, and they just go down the list.

I've had ADHD all my life, but wasn't diagnosed until my thirties. Getting on Adderall was, for me, "wow. I've been reading this book for over an hour and haven't been distracted (by my own self)" or "wow I've been writing for several hours, and I can understand where this is going.

I had an editor in a student run magazine, she told me my titles were too long, the language was too harsh (this was in college). She liked my ending though, she commented on the beautiful symbolism... Then added, "but I don't know what it's supposed to mean."

This is the narrator describing the MC..."He was like a ninja. He must have read Sun Tzu." And yes, I know there are differences in cultures, etc. How would the audience take this? Unreliable narrator (which it's supposed to be), ignorance of the author, or just not knowing?

This is hard. Taking it down to 2 sentences. I have, however, taken Pulp Fiction down to one really long sentence.

Yeah, probably a good idea. On another note, when something like this happens do you get confused between your work and the other work. Like, asking a friend if they remember a scene from the book, but you're referring to your book?
