We ended with:

"If the government chooses to continue to clamp down on Jesus’s message of nonviolent direct action, despite last week’s judgement, ministers should probably start with the head of the Church of England, and arrest Charles Mountbatten-Windsor."

(Quakers don't use titles.)

β€˜If Palestine Action are terrorists then so is Jesus’: Sam Walton & Daniel Woodhouse | The Friend β€˜Thankfully, we were two nice white boys.’| The Friend

Woody explained how Jesus' actions are remarkably similar to Palestine Action.

AND THE LAWYERS LEAVE IT IN THE STATEMENT.

So it becomes part of Huda's case to de-ban Palestine Action.

We wrote about this for The Friend: thefriend.org/article/if-p...

While loathe to evangelise, Woody is still a Methodist minister:

"Jesus made a whip out of cords and so had clearly planned what he wanted to do. He then turned the tables over with the money on and drove the animals out of the temple and said stop turning my father’s house into a market."

Woody said in his statement:

β€˜At no point was the word β€œterrorist” or β€œterrorism” even mentioned, whether by the police, the prosecution or in the media in relation to our direct action protest. I would have been utterly shocked had it been.’

The lawyers for Huda Ammori read this, and asked us for a witness statement.

Wood gave one, and the "We also broke into an airbase" article was submitted as evidence in the judicial review.

When Palestine Action were banned, we wrote an article about how we did the same thing, and were not called terrorists:

The arms industry is complicit in Andrew and his ilk's abuse of women and girls Andrew influenced the super rich through child rape and abuse to buy British weapons - and the arms industry actively facilitated him

Let's remember that when Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was committing hideous crimes...

... He was doing it largely on behalf of the British arms industry.

The arms industry is just as corrupt today.

Six Palestine Action activists were cleared today of aggravated burglary over a protest at an Israeli weapons firm in 2024. The jury also cleared three defendants of violent disorder and failed to reach a verdict on a GBH charge – charges that are the basis of the group's labelling as "terrorists"

I've been to about 10 of these protests over 20 years. This was easily the biggest.

Well done everyone involved and to @caatuk.bsky.social for organising.

Great socials too!

The Network for Police Monitoring stands in solidarity with Legal Observers in Minneapolis facing brutal violence from police and border forces. We send our love and rage to the family and comrades of RenΓ©e Nicole Good, executed on the street as she and her wife Becca Good sought to bear witness to the racist violence inflicted on marginalised and migrant people in their home city: the raids, disappearances and executions currently taking place across the United States.

Legal Observing is a simple act of solidarity. Legal Observers underpin efforts to resist state repression, bearing witness to police abuse of power so that violence is recorded and redress is possible. In Britain that abuse of power is purposeful and targeted at marginalised, migrant and racialised people. Here, as in the US, police and border enforcers detain, deport, injure and kill with impunity. The British state, like others across the Global North, has blood on its own hands for the inhumane border regimes and hostile environment policies which continue to result in preventable deaths. And here, as in the US, Legal Observers are subject to worsening violence and restraint. This is not exceptional to the US, but an escalating global system of border and police brutality.

Netpol stands with all Legal Observers, Copwatchers, anti-raids and migrant solidarity organisers who are committed to a just and equitable world. We stand, always, with those killed, injured, detained and deported by police and border forces, and with their families. We call on all liberation movements to continue to support and centre those most at risk of state violence: Black, brown and racialised people, migrant people, Muslim people, trans and disabled people. We recognise that intensification of border violence is only one tactic in a colonial project of control, and will continue our work accordingly. We believe in a future free of police violence, with freedom of movement and adequate resources available to all.

Sorry to the Irish, who our courts never let them for some reason could never clear their name in less than a decade.

Designating groups as terrorists for political reasons is not new!

I hope that @defendourjuries.bsky.social find this interesting.

Will Palestine Action be 'terrorists' for a record short amount of time? Many groups have been called terrorists, banned and/or imprisoned as terrorists - only for the political tides to turn...

Congratulations to the Stansted15, current record holders (781 days) for the shortest time as terrorists in the UK. You beat Nelson Mandela (911 days)!

But watch out! P&le$tine Action could nab the record off you any day!

Quakers in Britain are continuing to work to ensure that all Quaker communities are inclusive of gender diversity, following a decision in 2021. A new document provides both theological background for this, rooted in the commandment to love one another, and practical guidance. 1/4

This happens *all the time*. Cops do what they want and it doesn't even occur to them that they might need a legal basis for their actions until they're actively challenged - and even then they carry on regardless.

β€˜Unelected power’ of ultra-rich is reshaping British politics, report claims Equality Trust study shows how House of Lords appointments, big donations and media ownership affect political decisions

Power has concentrated on the hands of the rich. No surprise there.

What really strikes me is how weak the entire left are when it comes to policy ideas for how to break up media ownership.

"Encouraging ownership diversity" won't cut it.

Any ideas anyone?

The ban on Palestine Action is inherently Islamophobic Palestine Action supports Palestine which is mostly Muslim. Many people active in it are Muslim. This is not terrorism but it is Islamophobia

Counter terrorism legislation has been used throughout my adult life to silence my friends.

This Palestine Action ban is nothing new. It is inherently Islamophobic.
