BREAKING: We're filing a petition for the immediate release of Mario Guevara, a journalist who is being detained by ICE because of his reporting on law enforcement activity.
The First Amendment is clear: Journalists cannot be detained for doing their jobs.

Attention other indivisibles, do any of you have any clever ideas for rapid response Overpass signage? Something where you can react the next day and create a quick message? Like amscrabble. Also, we're putting together an Amazon detox kit. Does anybody have any good resources for that?

βοΈ Daily Action, Monday, August 4 βοΈ CALL YOUR SENATORS & REPS. As you make your calls to your representatives, please ask for information about upcoming town halls. Congress will be on recess the month of August and it is important that we stress that we would like to see them in a town hall. Hi, my name is [YOUR NAME], and Iβm calling from [ZIP CODE]. I want to thank you for keeping federal science funding strong. The senate appropriations committee endorsing NIH budget increases is a bright spot, and Iβm grateful for your support of research and the innovation it fuels here in Alabama and across the country. But Iβm very concerned about the other ways that science continues to be targeted. For example, NIHβs shift to paying out full 5-year grants upfront. This change will dramatically reduce the number of new grants funded next year. Our scientists are already facing success rates as low as 5β10%. This payout change means we may be looking at 1β2 funded grants out of every 100 applications. That would be devastatingβnot just to research careers, but to progress in medicine, healthcare, and technology. Please continue to support strong, sustained federal research fundingβand urge NIH to protect long-term stability in the way those dollars are administered. Thank you for your time, and for standing up for science.
