Dermochelys coriacea, also known as Leatherback turtle. It is the largest sea turtle of all, and can make long migrations across seas and oceans.

Yesterday, February 29th, we were visited by members of the Dorsal de Nasca National Reserve, who received training on "Biology and sea turtle bycatch mitigation measures".
The Dorsal de Nasca National Reserve is the first purely marine protected natural area in Peru.

During the project “Enhacing monitoring capacities in free-divers in northern Peru” we aimed characterizing this fishery through comprehensive interviews; carry workshops to share relevant information; and to identify key divers willing to report their catches into the mobile app “Appescar".

As part of the project "Assessment of bycatch impact of sea turtle hatchlings in nesting sites in Peru", we have placed signs on nesting beaches in Lobitos - Piura, in order to raising people's awareness, prevent the circulation of motorized vehicles and unsupervised pets.

We want to share one of our latest scientific articles about cephalopods. In this article, we identified and characterized the beaks of 18 species of cephalopods found in the stomach contents of three shark species.
