I realize broad science-literacy problems cannot generally be solved just by shoving more facts at people but I really wish more people understood that the entire purpose and mechanism of a vaccine is to educate your OWN immune system, making it about the most "natural" medical intervention possible

These two gorgeous pieces are part of the Ortona Diaspora group show - Finnโ€™s first time showing at the AGA! Worth getting up close and personal to see the almost-embroidered 3D pen layering.

on top of the expanding transit system, the growing bike network - edmonton is also the most affordable big city in this country, thanks in part to multi-unit housing being permitted everywhere as of last year.

Opinion: In Alberta schools, books arenโ€™t the threat โ€” censorship is The Alberta government should not be eroding the fundamental rights and freedoms of some of its most vulnerable community members.

โ€œAlbertaโ€™s order is precisely about banning books, as its direct effect is to force school authorities across the province to remove from their libraries a host of books deemed inappropriate by the state.โ€

I was very interested in this question during my thesis research, following a thread of Walcott implicitly claiming Yoho as settler space through his naming choices. I'd love to know if he did actually name this sponge for Mary!

Interesting! How were you able to determine it was named after Mary? The ROM's site says Walcott named it after Mt Vaux, itself named after William Sandys Wright Vaux.

But I can't find reference to either in his 1920 paper.

I almost forgot we won The other day a friend asked me (delicately), โ€œWhatโ€™s it like having a government that hates you?โ€ I laughed, partly because he assumed I agreed with the premise of his question, โ€ฆ

In 2019, I looked back at the massive safety improvements weโ€™ve accomplished in Edmonton, with bike lanes like the one on 83 Ave. Edmontonians should feel proud and hopeful about this infrastructure. And we will defend it. #yegbike

Why didnโ€™t he just ride down 83rd Ave? The thing I appreciate about Brideshead Revisited, Evelyn Waughโ€™s novel of man who gets entangled in a familyโ€™s downfall, is that itโ€™s a tragedy in the truest sense: all the ingreโ€ฆ

In case youโ€™ve forgotten why Edmontonians started demanding protected bike lanes: itโ€™s because we were fed up watching people die just trying to get around. I wrote about one of them 13 years ago. Itโ€™s incredible how much better our city is now. #yegbike

24. One of the most subversively positive things about crews in Star Trek is how everyone believes each other. Convinced everyoneโ€™s ears are shrinking and youโ€™re the only one who noticed? Everyone is out of the conference room performing ear scans immediately, no question.

Donald Trump signs executive order hiking tariffs to 35% on some Canadian goods The White House confirmed that Canadian goods which donโ€™t comply with the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement will jump from 25 per cent to 35 per cent at midnight Thursday night.

In exchange for less than nothing, Canada has to date:
-spent $1.3 billion to address a non-existent fentanyl border issue;
-introduced Trump-friendly border legislation;
-sacrificed the Digital Services Tax, at a cost of $1.4 billion/year.
It's almost as if the lesson is: appeasement doesn't work.
