That is actually a skipper butterfly, and my guess would be Peck’s Skipper, although some of them are really hard to tell apart.

A couple more great pollinator plants: #MountainMint And #CulversRoot

#OrangeMintMoth on our #Oenothera gaura. The common name should be Sweet Moth Blossom’,, not #SweetBeeBlossom! In the evening, which seems to be its primary bloom time, it is COVERED in moths!

Such a good idea to have them in pots, and move them into the garage! Everybody wins, except the raccoons.

Most insects had a very slow start this year. Population seen down overall. Except for #MagnoliaScale. 🙄

Here she is helping us mulch the #ValFlemingButterflyGarden to keep weeds down and support the soil microbiome. It also helps keep moisture in and it just looks amazing! 2” thick is about right.

Mia, our newest helper, is planting some of our #WinterSeeding success stories, including #WildSenna and #MarshAster! Maybe we will have some of these ready for the next plant sale in September!

Another great Native Plant that is fabulous for pollinators is #WildSenna! (Senna hebicarpa)

Normally, this would be a project for mid to late August, but this has also been a perfect year for fungal infections. I think it might be prudent to cut Bearded Iris back to a 6 inch fan presently and clean up all the dead leaves to avoid #IrisLeafSpot.

Wow! I found them at Home Hardware. Maybe check there.

They are easily controlled with the use of non-toxic nematodes. Follow the directions on the package. Adults are nocturnal and feed onleaves. Larvae feed on the roots.

See the tiny nibble marks that make sort of a scallop pattern on the edges of these Bergenia leaves? That is the damage from #BlackVineWeevil. They feed on species including Yew, Impatiens, Rhododendrons and many more. (See comments for solution)

A little visit to our #ValFlemingButterflyGarden in the @townoflincolnon where we have lots of life and butterflies are actually laying eggs!

Samuel from #ElmviewFarms just delivered us another beautiful load of Composted Mulch. As you may remember,#CompostedMulch is my FAVORITE mulch! All of this is spoken for upcoming projects. 😀

Today we installed some Feather Friendly Bird Collision Deterrent Markers on our little glassed in gazebo. Nice to know the birds are safe! Thanks, Matt and Jamie for the work and the filming.

Now is a great time to watch out for and pick off Rose Sawflies in the garden. They can be quite devastating. Also look for a curling near the tips of the stem which indicate egg laying sites. Look underneath and you’ll see the scarring from the egg laying. Trim that off.
