I think I BLUE it! On my way to Toronto on the #GOTrain (SO much easier than driving) to the #TorontoHomeShow at the CNE grounds. I’ll be answering questions at the Master Gardeners table and giving a presentation at 2 PM on blue flowers, fruit, and foliage on the main stage! Come say hi!

It’s almost time! Great vendors and presenters and a fun, engaged crowd! I’m speaking at 10 am on ‘Fusion Gardening’, all about reducing water use, and keeping the rain that falls on your property ON your property!

The #NationalHomeShow starts on March 6, Friday at the CNE grounds! I’ll be there helping with the #MasterGardenersOfOntario advice table that day AND on March 15. March 6, at 2pm, I’ll be presenting on the Main Stage about blue flowers, foliage and fruit! Hope you can make it. It’s a great show!

Screech Owl sighting! #MobbingBehavior; several different species of birds join & “yell“ @ a predator to drive it off. You can BARELY c the Owl (I think) at the very end of the video. We do have a nest box over where it’s flying towards, so I have hope that we will have a nesting pair this year.

At the #VictoriaGolfClub, Guelph for the #DayInTheGarden conference by the Master Gardeners of Guelph-Wellington. I just went for a little walk and found this amazing snag (an old tree trunk left standing for biodiversity) and just thought it worth mentioning that everyone should do this!

I’m afraid you’ll have to reach out to them directly, although they may counsel you to try and find plants of provenance local to you. Good luck in your quest! It is a worthy one.

I neat thing happen this morning. I had the window open to let fresh air and humidity in, and accidentally welcomed a guest! Eventually, he or she was gently corralled and released outside. I’m sure there were lots of stories to tell the other birds about how they had “been to the other side“! 😁

How cool is this…?

Kudos to the folks at the Gardenia website! They are now including information on a plant’s potential invasive nature! We need more people/organizations/nurseries doing this.

WOW! Looks like there are some great speakers this weekend at the #GrimsbySeedySaturday! Liz is incredible and I’ll need to try and stick around for the others. I’m chatting about designing a small garden. Come visit, see vendors, get seeds. FUN! At the Grimsby Public Library. I go on at 11:15. 😊

One of my favorite things about my profession is visiting old landscapes, at ANY time of year! These trees along the Lake Ontario shoreline in Burlington are establishing beautifully. I actually love the contrast between this 100% native planting and the post-apocalyptic background.

Friends! This Saturday, Feb. 14 there’s another #SeedySaturday. This one’s in Grimsby and I’m presenting on ‘Devil’s in the Details: Designing a Small Garden’. Come check out all the vendors and there are also other great vendors!

This one’s not open to the public, but I’m posting for folks in similar situations. A Guelph citizen’s group is having me present to homeowners in their gated community on ‘Flowers for Feathered Friends’ to show them their gardens can be useful to support birds in the garden. A great way to engage!
