The Poquessing Creek’s name comes from the Unami dialect of the Lenape language. We are partnering with federally recognized Lenape Tribe, the Delaware Tribe of Indians, to choose a site on the creek and install educational signage and a commemoration to the Native significance of the land.

Does this look like a house to you?

These stones are likely all that remain of the Benjamin Rush birthplace. It was demolished in 1969. When Benjamin Rush State Park was rennovated in 2013, the stones were used to construct the two stone columns at the entrance to the park.

Byberry Hall was founded in 1847 as a space for discussing slavery and other pressing social issues. Now owned by Byberry Friends Meeting, the Poquessing Trail of History project is partnering with the Friends to renovate the hall into a community meeting place and local history center.
